"Bri? Is that you?" asked Kayleigh.
"Yes, can’t you see me." He asked getting very concerned.
"Not very well" she said. The whole time that they were talking, Nick and Jenn were in the other room calling the police and an ambulance.
"They will be here in a minute" said Nick as he reentered the room with Jenn.
"Good" Brian replied very shaken. "You’ll be okay Kayleigh." Said Brian his eyes starting to water. Brian felt so helpless not being able to do anything for her.
"Bri, I’ll be fine. I don’t want you worrying over me." Said Kayleigh.
"Well, I’m gonna whether you like it or not." Said Brian.
"Your too cute" said Kayleigh as the sound of the sirens became painfully loud.
"I’m glad you two can still joke around, in conditions like this. " said Jenn.
"Everyone please clear the area," said a big burly man.
"Please step aside son," said a short man gripping Brian’s shoulder.
"Sorry," Brian said as he reluctantly moved from Kayleigh’s side.
"It’s okay Bri," said Jenn giving him a comforting hug.
"Yeah, man. She’s a tough girl. She will pull through." Said Nick patting Brian on the back.
"I know, but it’s just so hard." Said Brian, tears now streaming down his face.
"Excuse me sir, but the young lady has requested you ride in the ambulance with her." Said the short man.
"Okay," said Brian as he followed the man. "Will she be okay?" he asked the driver.
"We don’t know, we will just have to find out." He answered back.
"Okay" Brian said as he sat the rest of the car ride in silence only wondering what they were doing in back.
"We’re here. We’re here. WE’RE HERE." Said the driver again until Brian came out of his daze.
"Oh, I’m sorry. I was daydreaming." Brian said apologetically.
"It’s okay. They took your girlfriend into the other room. You will get an update soon. Take care."
"I wish she was my girlfriend but, thanks anyways. bye-bye.
"Bye."
~4 Minutes Later When nick and Jenn Show Up~
"B-Rok did you hear anything"
"No"
"Oh," said Nick
"Guys, let’s get our mind on something else." Said Jenn.
"Okay, like what?" questioned Brian.
"Well, next week is my Birthday." Said Jenn.
"Really? Mine too. What day?" said Nick.
"The 28th. What day is yours?"
"The 28th!" Brian chimed in.
"Wow, that’s a quinkie-dink" said Jenn laughing her head off like a two year old child.
"You are a dork," said Brian.
"Why?" asked Jenn not starting to calm down a tad bit.
"Because, that is the corniest thing to laugh over." Said Brian now starting to chuckle.
"Well, stop it it’s not funny anymore." Said Jenn. He didn’t stop, so she punched him in the arm, as hard as she could.
"Bitch, what was that for?" Brian retorted.
"Oh, did I hurt poor baby Brian? You know what you look like a duck, a baby duck." She shot back at him. Nick was laughing so hard he couldn’t say anything, to either of them.
"Why is that so funny Nick?" she asked.
"Because, that…is what….his mom used…to call him…when he was younger." Said Nick just spitting out the words enough so that everyone could understand.
"Hahahahahaha!" said Jenn making Brian blush for some strange reason.
"Shut-up you asshole!" said Brian.
"I was only joking with you, you don’t have to be snippy, in your words that is." She said laughing hysterically.
"Fine truce?" asked Brian.
"Okay truce." Said Jenn, giving him a quick peck on the cheek.
"Hey, what about me?" asked Nick, giving Jenn the puppy dog eyes with his beautiful baby blues.
"Oh, I could never forget about you. I love you, Nicky." She said as she kissed him.
"I love you too" said Nick.
~Back in Kayleigh’s Room~
"Kay, can I ask you something?"
"Sure Bri, what’s up?"
"Would you be my girlfriend?"
"I’d love too, I thought I would have to wait a long time for that question to be popped." She said laughing.
"What, we just met a few days ago?"
"Oh, Yeah I know that it’s just that in all those teenybopper magazines…" she cut herself off.
"What?" said Brian laughing. "You read those things"
"Well, I guess you could say that. When I get out of here tomorrow you can come see my room. Okay?" she laughed at how foolish she must of sounded.
"Sure, but why do you want me to see your room?" he asked thinking that this was a strange thing to ask.
"You’ll see’ she said before she drifted off to sleep with Brian right by her side.
"Bri, man, we gotta go. Come on!" said Nick getting restless.
"Okay, but we are coming back first thing in the morning is that okay with you?" he asked.
"No, use your own car, we might be busy!" said Jenn giving Nick the you-know-what-I-mean look.
"Ohhhhhh. Really?" said Brian."
"Yes, now let’s get a move on" said Nick.
~15 minutes later at Jenn’s house~
"You guys do what you want, I’m going to bed." She said as she yawned.
"Can I come?" asked Nick.
"What about your house?" she asked.
"I talked to my mom before we went to the hospital and I said I didn’t know how late I would be home. I told her I would either stay at yours or Brian’s house."
"Okay, Brian’s here, you can go now?" she said as she turned to go upstairs.
"What did I do to deserve this?" asked Nick very disgusted.
"Nothing, I’m sorry I’m just really tired because I had to wait for someone. I’m going to be nice and not mention any names though." She said pulling Nick up the stairs.
"I know what you mean" he said giving Brian the evil eye. Jenn stopped half way up and asked Brian if he was going to stay and he wouldn’t answer her.
"What did I do now?" she asked.
"Nothing, I was just thinking sorry." He said.
"Well, are you going to sleep here tonight?" she asked again.
"Why not?" he said.
"Okay, good night Baby Duck." She yelled over her shoulder as she raced up the stairs.
"Man, she’s gonna get it." Muttered Brian under his breath as not to let Nick hear him.
"What, did you say?" asked Nick.
"Oh, nothing, good night man." He replied.
"Oh okay, G’Night" said Nick as he trotted up the stairs.
~In the Bedroom~
"Where can I sleep?" asked Nick.
"Right here" she said patting the spot next to her on the bed.
"Okay," said Nick as he jumped on the bed and shook the whole
"Whoa, ‘Mr. Hyperman’ are we?" she said laughing at his oddball antics.
"That’s another name I am called, by the guys." He said.
"Your so weird." She said.
"Whatever!" said Nick talking like a valley girl.
"Loser!" said Jenn in the same tone. When they got upstairs they both got into bed and went to sleep.
~The Next Morning~
"Hi, Bri." Said Jenn as he entered the kitchen.
"Hey, what’s up girl?" asked Brian.
"Not much, how did you sleep?" she questioned.
"Okay, are you going to go to the hospital with me this morning?"
"Sure, but what about Nick?" she asked.
"Oh, he didn’t want to come, so why don’t we let him sleep."
"Okay, let me go get changed." She said.
~Two Minutes Later~
"Okay I’m ready." She said as she came flying down the stairs.
"Let’s go" said Brian as he grabbed her hand. She immediately pulled away.
When they got in the car Jenn, opened her mouth and said, "Last night I got a call from Kim and she said that one of my old friends Joanna is coming with them. She is 24 years old. She is really sweet and very romantic." She replied.
"Jenn, that’s great it sounds like a Howiette." Said Brian chuckling.
"Your so retarded." She said still laughing uncontrollably over something stupid.
When they got there they were a little early so they went and got a cup of coffee. When they got upstairs they found Nick sitting in a chair ripping a piece of paper into shreads. "Hey, Nick what’s up baby?" asked Jenn as she sat down next to him.
"I might ask you the same thing." He said snottily.
"What? I came here with Brian, and we didn’t want to wake you so, we left a note." She said.
"Oh, okay I’m just a little tired. Weird visions are floating through my head, that’s all." He said a little red with embarrassment.
"I’ll forgive you Nicky." She said as she kissed him on the cheek.
"That’s good" he said as he kissed her back.
Then they left the waiting room and went to see Kayleigh. A week later she was out of the hospital, being able to walk by herself. Sometimes Brian wouldn’t let her thought he was always holding on to her some way or another.
~Two Weeks Later~
"Nick, get up. We have to go pick up Joanna, Kim, and Kierstin. Are AJ, Howie and Kev coming?" She asked.
"Okay, I’m coming. Yes, they are all coming. I guess that means I have to hurry huh?"
"You guessed right, now get your fine ass out of bed." She said jokingly.
"Anything for you my sweet." He said. Nick was ready within a half an hour and the rest of the guys had already showed up. "Ready, to go Nick?" asked Jenn as she sauntered over to him.
"Yupperz!"
~At the Airport~
"Guys, we have to make our way to gate 257" she said as she talked to the five sunglassed and hatted boys. When they arrived at the gate the plane was just landing.
"Let’s wait over there." Said AJ. They all walked over as the PA announced that flight 632 had now landed.
A bunch of people had come through the door, but the girls were no where to be found, until Jenn spotted them laughing as they entered the airport.
"Kierst!" yelled Jenn. All three girls ran over hurriedly.
"Hi, Jenn." said Kim as she leaned forward and hugged her best friend.
"Hey chica, wass happenin’?" she asked.
"Whoa! Where did that come from?" asked Nick quite confused at his girlfriend’s words.
"I’m originally from NY, it is an inside joke that we all share." She said kidding around.
"Oh, really?" he said raising his eyebrows.
"Yep" piped Kim.
"Guys, this is AJ, Kevin, Brian, Nick, and Howie." Said Jenn pointing to each guy as she went along.
"This is Kim, Joanna, and Kierstin"
"Hi." Said AJ walking over to Kierstin.
"Hi" said Kierstin blushing.
"How was your flight?" he asked considerately.
"That’s good." He said.
"You guys, come you just met two minutes ago. I know you are into the big flirting thing but…" she was cut off by a roar of laughter.
"What?" she said not knowing what she did.
"Your sooooo funny" said AJ sarcastically
"Well, you know I try." She said.
"Okay now, do all of you want to come back to my house?" She asked.
"Sure" they all said.
"Okay, let’s go. Kevin, Kim, and Nick come in my car. Kierstin, AJ, Kayleigh, and Brian, go in Brian’s car." She replied.
~In Jenn’s Car~
"AJ and Kierstin seemed to be hitting it off." Commented Kevin.
"Yeah, from what I could see." Replied Kim.
"Nick, what are you thinking?" asked Jenn.
"About the other girl I’m dating." He said trying so hard not to laugh.
"What in Gods name did you just say Nickolas Carter?" she asked.
"Nothing, Stephanie." He said, saying the wrong name on purpose.
"Nickolas!!!" she screamed. The windows were open and the rest of the gang in Brian’s car could here her. Kevin and Kim were sitting in the seat behind them laughing hysterically, knowing what Nick was doing. By now they were pulling in the driveway, Jenn got out slammed the door and ran inside leaving the door swinging back and forth. Kevin, Kim, and Nick slowly got out of the car holding their stomachs.
"I’ll go get her" said Nick, still not realizing that she was upset. Nick went upstairs and barged into Jenn’s room. She was sitting in the corner with her knees up to her chest and her head rested on her knees. She was crying and Nick noticed. "Jenn what’s wrong?" he asked.
"Go away Nick, please." She said as she started to sob harder.
"Please tell me what is wrong?" He asked.
"I can’t believe I thought that you loved me." She said.
"I do love you. Where did you get that idea? Oh, wait that thing in the car. I was only playing with you." He said.
"Nick, I love you too much. I don’t ever want you to leave me. It really scared me when you said that." She said calming down a little bit.
"Oh, I never meant to hurt you. It was only a joke. I swear I don’t have some hooker chick Stephanie on the side. " he said trying to get her to lighten up a bit.
"You sure" she said.
"Would I lie to my girl?" he asked.
"No" she said. Nick leaned over and kissed her passionately on the lips. The kiss deepened and he laid on top of her, not letting their lips part for a second. They were interrupted when Kevin came rushing in the room.
"Do you guys want to go swim…" he stopped mid sentence, seeing what he had interrupted. "Oh man, sorry guys." He said as he turned to leave."
"It’s okay Kev, we were just finishing up.’ Said Jenn acting casual about the whole situation.
"Yeah, ditto." Said Nick trying to follow her lead.
"Oh, okay. Do you want to go swimming with us?" he asked.
"Sure, let me get my bathing suit." She said.
"Do you guys wanna stay with us? My parents aren’t going to be home for about another month or so with my brothers and sisters." She replied.
"I’ll talk it over with the guys." He said.
"Okay," she said as he walked away.
"Nick, don’t you have to go get your bathing suit?" she questioned.
"Oh, yeah." He said.
"Well, then I suggest you go soon." She said.
"That eager to get rid of me?" he retorted.
"Yep. Now go!" she said.
~Later When Everyone is in the Pool and Nick Arrives~
"There you are baby." Said Jenn as she got out of the pool and went up to nick in her florescent green bikini.
"Where did you think I was?" he asked staring at her.
"Oh, I don’t know." She said as she kissed him on the lips. Nick deepened the kiss and wrapped his arms around her. They continued kissing until AJ started chanting ‘Go Nick! Go Nick!’ "I forgot we had an audience" she said.
"Well, I didn’t think we had such a rude one." Said Nick.
"Sorry, Nick I just couldn’t pass up the chance." Said AJ still laughing along with the others.
"Very funny, guys" said Jenn as she jumped back in the pool and pulled Nick with her.
"Neither could I." Said Jenn as Nick came up sputtering.
"Hey, that wasn’t fair!!" said Nick as he started to chase Jenn around the pool.
"Bri, help me!" she yelped.
"Okay!" he hopped out of the pool and started chasing her along with Nick.
"AJ!" she screamed in hopes that he would be on her side.
"Coming babe!" he said and he followed the others.
"Howie!!!" she said
"I’m coming for real" he said . He got out headed towards the guys and then turned and started chasing her too.
"Kevinnnnnnnn!!" she said.
He got out grabbed her and started running as fast as he could.
"Thanks Kevvy-Kev." She said and then gave him a friendly kiss on the cheek, when Nick found them behind the bush.
"What the fuck?" was all that he said.
