Sheana, Kevin, and Adrianne all met 30 minutes later at Ruby's. When
Adrianne saw Kevin and his girlfriend walk in, she was glad to see he had
brought her. Kevin and Sheana walked hand-in-hand up to where Adrianne was
sitting. When they reached the table, Kevin let go of Sheana's hand and
kissed Adrianne on the cheek and sat down. They exchanged their hello's and
Kevin introduced Sheana to Adrianne.
"Alright, what is this all about Adrianne? Is there something that really
concerns you about AJ?" Kevin looked intently into Adrianne's eyes.
"No, it's about you and me. The other day at the restaraunt with AJ. I felt
so close to you, like I knew everything about your life, I want to know
everything about you. Please tell me." Adrianne looked right back into
Kevin's eyes. Kevin looked at Adrianne and then looked at Sheana.
"OK, here goes. I grew up with my parents, and we lived in a house. My mom
was very young when she had me, and almost had to give me up for adoption.
When I was about 6 or 7 my mother got pregnant again, but had a miscarriage.
I grew up with a normal family all my life. Nothing interesting happened to
me, until my father died about 8 years ago, and then I joined the rest of the
guys. My life isn't interesting....." Kevin trailed off.
"Wait, Kevin, you said your mom had a miscarriage? Are you absolutely
positive?"
"Well my mom was young when she had me, but as far as I know, she never had
that child."
"Kevin, do you think there is a slight possibility that your mom had that
child and gave it up for adoption?"
"Why do you say that?"
"Well, I was adopted, and my real parents or parent updates his or her file
every year, but refuses to leave a number or a name. If your mother had me,
when I think she did, then you were 6 at the time, about how old you said you
were."
"Adrianne, I think you are taking a shot in the dark. I really do not think
that we are related. How could my mother go this long with out telling me?"
"Kevin, I am asking you. Will you please contact your mother and ask her for
me?"
"Adrianne, I promise you that I will try, but I am not making any promises.
I don't know how my mother will react to this."
"Thank you so much Kevin. I have to go now, nice meeting you Sheana, bye
Kevin." Adrianne put some money on the table to pay for her lunch, and kissed
Kevin's cheek and walked out of the restaraunt. She drove home hoping and
praying that she would finally find one of her parents. Adrianne had waited
so many years to find some key to her past, and this could be it.
