The young, unlined, unformed faces
The worn, wrinkled faces
The young tremble with excitement;
The new buds are fragile in their beauty;
The tender and delicate green leaves of the
Pale next to the sturdy, firm deep green Oak leaves.
This was written years ago. It still represents how I feel. I read somewhere that good marriages that survive beyond twenty years do so because through the years they have protected and nutured their "couplehood". I agree
"How beautiful is young love," says my friend.
Beautiful, maybe, but for sheer passion,
Watch the glance that passes between
the couple of 50 years.

Glow with the security of a
long relationship.
The aged couple's serenity is moving.
The ancient oak is sturdy in its solidity.
