This morning, as I left DB sleeping in the camper, I drove the truck (don't tell anybody, but I LOVE TO DRIVE THE TRUCK) home to change for church. The hillsides were abloom with all of the amazing colors we talk about during the rest of the year and never really believe until they appear again the next fall. In a newly chopped corn field near Pretty Bay, there were several deer gleaning the remainder of the corn. Then I spied a flock of turkeys beside the busy highway. Classical music on the radio, cranked up to teen level, and I was in Heaven! The subject this morning in Sunday School was "Aging" Hmmmm!

br> Saying Goodbye to Summer Well, the deed is done: Dolly is back in our yard, her wonderful summer at Pretty Bay over. It was hard to say goodbye to our new friends, and look at the lake for the last official time. We will be back for one "dry camping" weekend in early November so that Dolly can be winterized, but our happy summer is put to bed. Even more than the relaxation of being away each weekend, we loved the new community of people who are "permanents". Our lives are so busy during the week, and so are the lives of our neighbors, that we had lost that sense of community. Oh, we see old friends now and again, but not to really socialize. More often we meet on the run, or at one of the local eateries, and exchange quick, surface talk. But on the weekend, we began to really know our trailer neighbors. What a bonus to this RV business! And we came from all over the area; three states and Canada were represented. We had rousing talks, great games, stories and sharing by the campfires, wonderful community dinners, and the concern for each other was palpable. As much as I love the people I work with, it was nice to have another whole group to relate to. So The Dollhouse is blooming in the yard, waiting for our trip next weekend to Gorgeous Gorge. I look forward to those hikes in the incredibly beautiful woods surrounding the gorge. And, of course, this will be the perfect weekend for the autumnal display.
