7:42 AM
It snowed all night, and when I arose this morning, it was still coming down, lightly. The sun is peeking through the clouds in the east, and lighting up the snow on the trees outside this window. The light is different at this time of year, and the sap is rising in the trees and in my veins! Today I will plant my seeds and begin the long road to ripe tomatoes.

A Day of Rest

6:06 PM

"O gracious Light, pure brightness of the everliving Father in heaven, O Jesus Christ, holy and blessed! Now as we come to the setting of the sun, and our eyes behold the vesper light, we sing your praises, O God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. You are worthy at all times to be praised by happy voices, O Son of God, O Giver of life, and to be glorified through all the worlds. Amen"

I had to put the above Vespers prayer into the journal tonight. The light is so beautiful, the sky a soft, glowing peach, the snow sparkling in the late sun. And it's been a happy day. We didn't do much, but we did it all together, shopping for a new ink cartridge for the printer, going to the bank, choosing a new suit for DB with the gift certificate I gave him LAST SUMMER for his birthday (he had to add a considerable amount to it!), walking to breakfast, having lunch together at the old hotel in the village. I vacuumed while he napped, then watched a movie on TV. A very restful day.

8:06 PM

It's so hard to get a "day of rest" when you work. There is always something that has to be done. I have decided to treat those chores as part of my "rest". I don't do very much after work during the week, so going to Office Max, checking out the garden stuff at Agway's, dropping in on my favorite supermarket, and a few other little errands are my social life. The big event during the weekend, of course (other than church), is my weekly shopping trip to said supermarket. I now can access this store on the internet, check out all the specials, and write a shopping list, if I want.

Saturday night dinner is very easy; hot dogs and beans for my New England husband, and a fish sandwich for me. I sometimes leave the dishes until morning, because we eat so late. I'd rather face them when I've had a good night's sleep.

My Saturday is at an end. The seed planting will have to wait until tomorrow, as DB didn't get the light put up. I may watch Kate Brasher, if I can stay awake.

Life is good; thanks be to God. Amen
