7:34 PM Not too much to say tonight. I spent too much time "on the boards". this is getting ridiculous!
And Daffies Everywhere

More than flowers are blooming in
our village these days.
The newly groomed baseball diamond
has sprouted uniforms in grey and white.
On the tennis courts, colorful shorts and
shirts race around after little round objects.
Swinging, sliding, climbing, jumping
children have popped up on the playground.
Robins and chickadees try to sing over the
shouts and cheers on the football field.

Shoulders hunched against the brisk breeze
off the lake, I trudge up Lakeside in the
deceptive sun.
Overhead the cumulus clouds skitter across
the bright sky, chased by the ominous nimbus
darkening the far horizon.
Snow is predicted for tomorrow: " possible
accumulation of one inch in the higher
elevations."
Spring has sprung in Western New York.

When we moved from the rented house to our own house in New Hampshire, one of the first things I did that Thanksgiving Day was plant spring bulbs. There was a spot where the kitchen ell joined the main house, facing east, that even on that coldish day was warm and sunny.

All winter I looked forward to the day when the first crocuses would appear in that little garden. I had reasoned that its position facing east and south would warm up the area early. Maybe I'd even get snowdrops in late February!

Well, I might have, if snowdrops came with 6foot stems. I hadn't figured on the collection of snow from the congruence of those two slate roofs. I was still trying to shovel the snow and ice off that garden in May.
