7:10 PM When DB and I went for breakfast in the early morning, it was raining. The weather report said, partly cloudy, no precipitation. Our partly cloudy was just a little wetter than others, I guess. Still, it was warm and smelled wonderfully earthy. I had to spend the bulk of the morning at church, cutting and wrapping simnel cakes for next Sunday, attending a funeral of a older priest who had helped us out during our "interim" year, and then cleaning and resetting the altar for tomorrow's services.

The funeral was very moving; our beloved Bishop celebrated, one of the newest priests in the diocese did the homily (with dignity and respect for Fr. Stanley's 46 years of priestly duty), and a choir of clergy from around the diocese sang the Commendation. It was the best of a beautiful service; celebrating the life on earth, commending him to his Father's house, and remembering the grieving. Amen

A Soul-Refreshing Afternoon

DB and I went to Pretty Bay this afternoon to give the owner of the Campground the final payment for this summer. The sun was out, the air warm and a spring wind was whipping in the tall trees that make this campground so inviting.

Several of the summer "permanents", including some Ohio neighbors, and the couple from Canada, were also there, checking out their campers and raking leaves from their decks. Our RV is under cover in the side yard here at home. Maybe tomorrow DB will remove the cover and I can get into see what needs to be done before we haul it over to Pretty Bay in a couple weeks.

I had been feeling a little guilty that I wanted to stay home again this summer, rather than do a lot of weekend traveling, but with the gas prices, it surely is much cheaper to pay the summer rental at Pretty Bay! And the benefit of being able to go over there whenever we want, weekends and/or weeknights, and still be available to fulfill my church duties outweighs anything we would miss by traveling, at least for this year.

Our longterm plan is to travel from cold weather to warm each winter and hire out as "hosts" in a campground somewhere. DB keeps up with the advertisements for such positions during the winter when he can't go camping. We will try it for a couple winters, then if we like it, we can do this year round, staying in one spot for several months, then following the sun.

DB is worried that I won't be happy so far from my garden. Sometimes I wonder about that, too, but the fun of seeing more of the country, without pulling up and moving every couple weeks, overcomes my concern. All this depends on our staying healthy, of course.

And to that end, we went for one of our walks at Pretty Bay today. My leg held up well, and DB can move right along, thanks to his walking at least 4 days a week at the Y. I'm working back up to 2 miles, now that I've recuperated from all that flying. I did two 2-milers last week. My goal is 4 miles a day. We'll see!
