Ch. 3

"Howie, are sure you should be dating a young girl?" Kevin asked as we stood in the hotel lobby awaiting our management.

"It's not like I'm taking her on tour with us and screwing her in my hotel room at night!"

Kevin had hit a sour note with Howie. The others and I watched in suprisement. Howie hardly ever took a stand, obviously this girl had struck his fancy. He had been my best friend for 8 years, and this was the first time I had seen a change in his characterics. I believe this girl had done wonders within twenty-four hours.

Howie continued his reasoning. "I really like her, Kev. She's real, cute and innocent. I lost a lot with my other girlfriends. And I'll wait before I start anything with her, she's different."

Kevin pulled away. "You're serious, aren't you?"

"Yes. I'm going to stay in contact with her over our European tour, and if I'll goes well I'll ask her to meet me in Florida. I'm not going to push this."

Howie kept his word.

I watched him gently take her hand as he held her through his backyard. "How do you like Florida?"

Sally looked over her shoulder. "Other than the sunburn, it's great."

"Don't feel too bad," Kristin assured her. "I toasted my white skin when I first came here, too."

Kevin gazed at the burn. "That's pretty serious. Howie, you better get some aloe on that for her."

Amanda snuggled up in my lap. "There's some lotion in my bag. You're more than welcomed to use it."

"Come on, I'll show inside," Howie offered helping her up.

Kristin sat along side Kevin. "He should stay with her. I really like her."

"So, do I," Kevin agreed.

Yes, even skeptical Kevin now agreed Sally was made for Howie, and not just because she was an inch shorter than him.

"You want me to rub that in for you?" Howie asked.

"If you don't mind."

"Not at all."

Sally set infront of him as he slid the cool lotion over her burns. "Ah," she whispered.

"I'm sorry," he blurted out immediately.

She smiled. "It's not your fault, blame Mr.Sunshine."

Howie laughed, then became silent as he stared into her dark eyes. She did the same. Then it happened- the first of many kisses.
