The Demise of a Volkswagen Beetle

The Beetle was a great cult car. But, most ended their lives by a sort of 'self destruct' mechanisim, where the engine would catch fire without the driver knowing it, and would proceed to burn itself to the ground. A probable cause was faulty fuel lines in the engine. In Cooperstown, NY, these pictures were taken some 20 years ago as a Beetle burned on the street.
