New York International Auto Show 2001

As a birthday present, Dad took me to New York the day after I turned 16 to see the auto show, which is something I've always wanted to see. We left for Uncle Tom's house in Philly on my birthday, right after I passed my permit test, and spent the night. Next morning we headed to the trains and got into Penn Station just after 10 o'clock. We went up to the Empire State Building, then headed to Jacob Javits Convention Center where the show was taking place. So here are the pics, they're in alphabetical order, which isn't chronological, but I'll let you know when each was taken. Enjoy! :)

Acura NSX

The Poor Man's Ferrari, this is Honda's supercar, sold under the Acura name in the US. I was on my way to the BMW display in the background, but I thought I should pay tribute to a great sports car, even if it is Japanese. Right after I took this picture, a man asked me to take a picture on his camera with him next to it. I guess he trusted a 'fellow NSX lover' or something. However I was none too pleased to see the Fuji film in his camera, but I let it slip because I'm a nice person.

Acura RSX

The new Integra, as Honda/Acura changes all the names from words to letters (ie MDX, NSX). Sure it looks like a Civic, but it drives nicely they say. I think I like the front of the previous Integra better however.

This was a Type-S, which is the beefed up replacement for the Integra Type R (R being what Honda uses in Japan, S being the new American format for the CL, Prelude, etc.). In this trim it puts out 200hp and 142lb-ft of torque, good for 60 mph in 6.1 seconds. Slower than a Camaro Z28 but faster than a Beetle 1.8T. That's not much of a comparison though. I'd still put my money down on a Beetle. NYIAS Page 2
