"Cliché"

She was frightened and alone. They were chasing her, she could hear them. She wished they would stop, she'd be better off. But she knew they would never stop in till they found her. Her mother wouldn't let them. She saw them pass by her, the trashcans hid her. She sighed with relief, they didn't see her, and she was safe, for now.

"So your sister and you just moved into a new apartment?" Terry asked Alisa as they walked up a flight of stairs.

"Mandy needed some more room then we had in the dorm room, so we moved here," Alisa explained.

"Makes sense," Terry said as Alisa put a key in the keyhole and turned it, the door opened, and she removed the key. They stepped inside and placed their bags on a chair next to the door. Boxes lined the walls, full of things that hadn't been unpacked yet.

"Mandy I'm home!" Alisa yelled.

"Is that you Izzy?" a female voice said from another room.

"Yeah!" Alisa yelled back. Terry looked at Alisa amused.

"Izzy?" he asked her.

"I call her Mandy and she calls me Izzy," Alisa explained as they walked into a room. Little pieces of metal and things were all over the floor. A girl sitting in a wheelchair was looking into a microscope on a table was at the other end of the room. Alisa had told Terry that Mandy was born paralyzed from the waist down, and developed a love of science and technology when their parents died five years ago. They lived on a large amount of money that was set away for them in a trust. The girl looked away from the microscope and moved her wheelchair so she could see them.

"Hey Izzy, I didn't know you had a boyfriend," Mandy smiled. The nice smile must run in the family. The glasses on Mandy's face moved up a little on her face. Alisa laughed.

"He's just a friend Mandy. Terrence Eugene McGinnis, meet Amanda Jessica Ryan, my older sister," Alisa introduced royally. They all laughed and Mandy wheeled herself over to him and they shook hands.

"I hope I can call you Mandy too," Terry said.

"If I can call you Terry," she asked.

"Of course Mandy," he said.

"Well Terry and I have some work to do, see you Mandy," Alisa said as they walked out of the room. Something beeped in Terry back pocket. He pulled out his phone and answered it.

"Yeah?" he asked. He listened a little.

"I'll be right there," he then said and returned the phone to his pocket.

"I got to go, Bruce wants me to do something," he explained.

"Okay," Alisa said still smiling. Terry looked at her amazed.

"Really?" he asked not believing she reacted that why, Dana had always hated it. She had went to college out of state, the relationship didn't last much after that.

"Yeah really," Alisa laughed at his reaction.

"Wow, I like you," he said and began to walk towards the door. She laughed again.

"Bye!" she yelled after him.

"Bye!" he yelled back and opened the door. He walked outside the door and closed it after him.

Batman walked over to Bruce who was sitting in a chair in front of the batcomputer.

"Why did you want to see me?" he asked.

"The Jokerz," he answered simply. Batman felt a ball of anger in his stomach when he heard that name.

"What about them?" he asked.

"You don't know everything you probably should about them. Years ago, the Joker was killed. His wife, made his wife by odd terms, was pregnant with their unborn daughter. His wife was Harley Quinn, who now is head of the Jokerz. You see there are groups of Jokerz all across the state, the group here is only one of them, and Quinn is all of their leader." He explained. Batman was shocked; he had no idea there was more of them.

"So?" Batman asked.

"Her daughter is now 16 years old, and missing. Quinn has the Jokerz searching the city for her, and won't stop till she is found. If Quinn does not find her soon, she will bring more Jokerz to Gotham," he explained not even looking at Batman.

"You want me to help find a Jokerz princess! You want me to help them!" he said not believing what hasn't even been asked.

"If you find the girl it will stop the coming of more Jokerz and come out better in the end," Bruce explained. Batman wasn't going to fight with him, which would be useless and foolish. He walked over to the batmobile and jumped inside and closed it. Then he sped off in search of the enemy.

Mime tentatively walked down one of Gotham's many alleys. She hated being hunted, being the punch line of the joke. Mostly she hated the life her mother put her through, all the crime, and all of the stupid jokes. She would live happily if she never heard another joke in her life. Her life was a joke, so was her mother. Never there, never took anything seriously, whenever she did pay attention to her, she didn't want it. Just like now. She stopped walking and listened. She could hear them behind her. They were close. They where about as close sardines in a sardine can. Now she was telling jokes! Great.

"Your mom's been looking for you sweetheart," she heard a loathsome voice behind her say. The Jokerz of Gotham stood there, grinning and snickering at her. She hated those grins; she had seen grins all her life.

"And she'll continue doing so if you don't leave" they all heard a voice say from above them. They all looked upwards and saw a silhouette of a person. It leapt from the roof and landed in between the Jokerz and Mime. She was graceful and wore such brilliant colors.

"Who's going to make us leave?" the head joker said walking over to Blaze.

"We are!" Batman said and swooped down next to Blaze.

"I'm shaking," the joker leader said. Mime looked at Batman and Blaze, why were they helping her?

"I'm warning you" Batman said and got ready to fight, Blaze just stood there. Mime smiled for the first time in a long time, Blaze made Batman look like a show off. She quickly made her way from the scene, quietly of course.

"Hey boss, she's getting away!" one of the other Jokerz yelled and pointed at Mime. The leader looked at Mime.

"Get her!" he yelled. They all ran towards Mime, they just had to get past Batman and Blaze first. Batman flattened one of the motorcycle tires with a batarang, and punched out one of the Jokerz. The Jokerz that came towards Blaze, never came near her. She quickly raised her hands in their direction and a strong gust of wind sent them flying into wall and ground. All the Jokerz except the leader were down. He jumped on the motorcycle with the now flat tire and rode off with sparks flying in front of him.

"Let's go," Batman said and ran after Mime. Blaze followed him. They ran where they saw her last, but couldn't find her. Then they heard a scream. They ran towards it as fast they could. They found her being dragged away by the wrist by an elderly woman who was still in great shape. The woman stopped and turned around to see Batman and Blaze. She grinned at them, a grin that looked worn and used. Two men stepped up behind Batman and Blaze. Batman and Blaze turned around to see them but the men hit them in the top of their backs, knocking them unconscious. They fell to the ground on top of each other. The elderly woman laughed.

Batman struggled in the ropes. He was in a small room with no window, just a door in the corner. The entire room was painted with purple and green stripes. Blaze lay right next to him, still unconscious. The Jokerz had removed both of theirs gloves and belts, Quinn knew what she was doing. Instead of trying to get out of the ropes, he tried to wake up Blaze. He tried to kick, but his feet being tied together didn't make it easy. He managed to finally nudge awake. She moaned a little but sat up, quite easily too. He had taken Batman almost five minutes to sit up.

"Where are we?" she asked him.

"I don't know, but it's colorful," he answered. She looked at the wall like she was concentrating on something.

"There are to men outside of the door, Jokerz, but not normal ones," she told him. He looked amazed.

"How'd you know that?" he asked her.

"I learned how to see through things, it's a skill my people have. We were born with many abilities, like how to move things with our minds, and the wind. We can also be taught things, I was taught how to see through things, and..." she said as red rays came out of her eyes and cut the ropes that tied Batman. She looked at him and smiled. He was shocked more then he ever had before in his life. She was an alien.

"Where are you from?" he asked.

"I was born on Earth, so was my dad, but my mom was born on the moon," she said.

"I think science has proved that not much life if on the moon," he said skeptically.

"That's on the moon, she was born inside the moon," she said and cut her own ropes. They stood up and looked around, Batman tapped the transceiver in his mask, busted.

"Any idea how we get out of here?" Batman asked her, he was opened to suggestions. Blaze grinned at him and concentrated on the door. The rays shot out of her eyes and the door burst into flames.

"Now what do we do about the fire?" Batman yelled over the flames. She grinned at him again and raised her hand toward the flame. Gusts of wind shot put from her palm and blew the fire her out.

"Taken care of," she said. The two men were now very alarmed and wanted to see what happened. They peeked their heads inside what was left of the door. Batman and Blaze both punched one of them in the face at the same time as they peeked their heads in. They ran out of the room not really knowing where they were going. They ran down a hallway into a big room that was painted with the same with the same stripes. They slowed down and walked through the huge room. There was a throne with green trim and purple cushions on the back wall, with a smaller one next it. There was the same elderly woman sitting in the larger chair. She had a big purple, green and yellow dress on, full of ruffles and fancy designs. She wore a little crown on her head with a card with a joker on it. Her head was full of light gray hair. Mime was sitting in the other chair. Her chin resting on her chest and her eyes set at a cold stare.

"Welcome, make your self at home," Quinn said. Then she laughed loudly.

"Why have you brought us here?!" Batman demanded.

"To catch up on old times of course, a new Batman is always interesting, though it's never happened before, it should be interesting," Quinn laughed again.

"Oh mother be quiet! It's not funny!" Mime said standing up. Quinn looked at her amazed by her out burst, so did Batman and Blaze.

"Mime what are you saying?" Quinn asked in shock.

"Exactly what I said. You're not funny, you haven't said a funny thing in years!" Mime yelled.

"Not true dear, I say funny things all the time, everyone always laughs at them," Quinn said sweetly.

"You mean them?" she said pointing to a small group of Jokerz by the door, "They only laugh because you're their boss! You're not funny, you haven't said a funny thing since Dad died!" Mime yelled. Quinn looked at her in shock and some sadness. Like her heart was just broken as soon as Mime said 'Dad'.

"I don't want to stay here anymore, I need to leave Mom, I need to," Mime said with tears beginning to run down her cheeks. Tears were running down Quinn's cheeks too.

"Then go," she said simply. Mime looked at her confused.

"You won't follow me?" Mime asked to make sure.

"No. Now go before I change my mind, and take the heroes with you," Quinn said pointing to the door behind Batman and Blaze. Mime smiled, she ran over and hugged Quinn.

"Good bye mother," she said, and ran past Batman then out the door. Blaze followed her, but Batman stayed looking at Quinn.

"What are you still doing here?" Quinn asked him.

"You're a good mother," he said. She smiled not her used smile, but a new one that was nice.

"Thank you," she said. Batman turned around and began to walk away.

"Batman," Quinn said. He stopped and turned around.

"Didn't you used to have a partner?" she asked him confused.

"Things change," he said.

"No kidding," she said. Batman turned around and continued walking away.

"So you look like you have a secret," Alisa said to Terry as they moved down the sidewalk on their hoverboards.

"What would make you say that?" he asked.

"You're slower when you have a secret," she said.

"Well maybe I'm just tired," he said.

"Maybe," Alisa said smiling, she sped up a little and pulled up in front of him, "Or maybe you're keeping a secret," she finished. He smiled at her.

"Well if you must know, I think I'm in love with your sister," he said. She laughed and almost fell off her hoverboard.

"I'm going to tell her that," she said.

"Don't you dare, I was just kidding!" he told her.

"Sure you were," she said and began to speed off. He didn't follow her till she was out of site.
