Help Me, Help Us All

11-8-98

If you think about the world today;
How it is,
And how it's changed.
You think of all the good times then;
And all the hell that's risen since
(Oh, simply for comparison)
But did you ever think to see;
How change can be taken do happily
Into the arms of a life that's not so grand,
Before this change had ever been had?
Drawn out of the gutters in one great sweep,
And onto the corner of your very own street.

But did you ever think to hear;
Your next door neightbor's cry of fear?
While hope vanishes from our eyes
The smallest child turns and sighs.
But what will any of us ever gain,
By hiding all our constant pain?

Maybe some people have it bettr;
Are they the better of ua all?
And some people are worse off;
Should we continue to let them fall?
Still, maybe people are just like you;
They'll turn their head when it's you who calls.
