Description: Mershaw was upset by the lack of action Kareem Said was taking towards the other gangs. Refused to sit back and wait for Kareem to take action. When Kareem Said was having heart problems and needed assistance, Husani just left him there to die. Mershaw took over The Muslims and was about to start a holy war in Oz under order from Kareem Said (or so he said). When Said came back from ICU, he told the truth- that Mershaw left him there to die. Said said that no muslim is to speak to him, make eye contact, or acknowledge his[Mershaw's] presence. Mershaw told Warden Glynn Said's(ficticious) plans of starting a riot. Warden Glynn although doubtful of the validity of Mershaw's story decided it's time Em City had another shakedown. The shakedown revealed that every inmate in Em City had a weapon save Said. The prisoners were not allowed phone calls, visits, or to watch TV for 2 months. Mershaw got transfered out of Em City but not before every inmate in Em City lined up in two columns and each spit in his face while he walked down the aisle for him suggesting a shakedown. Mershaw became so depressed, he slit his throat and thus, ended his life.
