Don't go there
Mr. I, visited in NYC. He simply wanted to buy a Flash to his Camera.
He entered "H & B of Little Brazil" (21 West 46th St). It is one of those Big store who carry "Everything": Cameras, Videos, Watches, Electronics & Luggage.
"I" knew what he is looking for... But after he got a lecture from the a salesman, name "Alex"... He was convinced that the "Kalimar" brand will be better than the "Sigma" brand, he looked for. The SalesMan sounded so Pro. that there was nothing to argue about. The price was not bad as well.
Mr "I" return to his Home-Land... to find out that after all, the flash does not fit to his camera, as he wanted. So...
He sent the Flash, with his friend "O", back to NY. Asked him to try replace it to the original Flash, he initial requsted. "O" call the store... asked to talk with "Alex". "Alex is not here, May I help you?" said "Ilai". "O" repeated the story, & "Ilai" told him to come to the store. Few days later went "O" to try to replace the Flash... Not before he called "Kalimar" Company, to ask them if that specific Flash, have all the features as "I" wanted. After a briff conversation he learned that the "Kalimar" is different. "O" entered the Store, & asked who is "Ilai". A salesman called "David" said: "He is not here, May I help you? I am the Manager". Well... "O" repeated All the story from the begining, include the phonecall he made to "Kalimar". "They (Kalimar) don't know anything". Said David "I am a professional photographer", & he showed "O", his Business Card. ((That was a mistake! :) For the 2 seconds "David" showed the card... "O" saw that the first name of the "professional photographer" is - Alexander!!)). "David" tried to convinced "O" to believe him. But "O" said, he simply would like to exchange it, Or to get refund. "Refund is impossible. But if you add 65$ more... I will exchange it for you. And I won't charge you 15% "restocking fee"" said "David".
Before "O" paid the deference, he checked carefully the flash ("Sigma") he is going to buy (As "I" instructed him). Few details didn't seems to be right. But "O" had a feeling, already, He can't trust "David". After leaving the store, "O" called "Sigma" to verify what he thought might be a problem.
Apparently, the "Warrenty" had a Deferent serial... & The manuel was for another camera (Not the one the Flash was for). "Sigma" rep. gave "O" their dealer in "I"'s homeland... & said not to worry: "Just show the receipt, with the "Day of Purchas" (One year Warrenty), they will take care of you". About the manuel, they said, it cost 6$.
Anyway... "O" made another effort to return to the store, & to try to get the right manuel. While being in the store, with "David"... Someone called: "Alex"...; "David" turned & talked with the guy. "O" wondered why Alex Lied to him... said his name is "Elai" & "David"; But didn't say a word.
Alex mumbled few words, opened another Box & gave "O" a correct manuel.
