Daliah
(The enclosed quotes are Daliah’s writings)
1959 - Daliah was born in Hadera
1986 - Died and Buried in Tzfat, at the age of 27
1996 - I got to know Daliah
... Winter 1996, in a large pile of photos, on the floor of a deserted building, I found Nathan Zach’s poems’ book "All the milk and the honey", dedicated to Daliah.
I was amazed by the huge amount of photos. I remember thinking: "Its someone’s history, thrown on this floor"...; Few minutes later I found a booklet: “In Memory of Daliah". (Sigh), The poems book was given to Daliah in September 1982. About 4 years later, (I learned later) she committed suicide.
Just by opening the Memory book, seeing Daliah’s portrait, it may be strange to say but, I got attached. Reading further the memory book, Reading the poems Daliah wrote, And what family and friends wrote about her... Touched me.

"Mr. Tuviash, My Principal" is a composition in English, Daliah wrote, and appears in the Memory book, pg 29. I wanted to know more about Daliah Z”l.

At 10:00am, January 17th 1997, I found Daliah’s Tombstone. “Next to the palm tree” pointed the cemetery guard, when I asked him where Daliah’s grave can be found. A palm tree, I was told, planted by Daliah’s parents. Later that day, I met one of Daliah’s friends.

I spoke with the man who dedicated Nathan Zach’s book to Daliah. He didn’t know Daliah died. When I told him when she died, he said that few months before, he told Daliah he is getting married.

Even today, 21 years after Daliah wrote some of her poems and memories (feeling), as at the time, 8 years ago when I first saw them, I feel connected. A bit more, a bit less. I feel I can identify with Daliah’s ideas and thoughts. This is another reason, beyond my initial curiosity, that I wish to know more about Daliah. Maybe, in a sense, Daliah & I (our souls and life experience) are somewhat alike. I guess that overall it will be unfair to compare; Daliah’s lives were more Tragic. I wish I had Daliah’s diary, in order to know her better.

** May her Memory be blessed **
