September 1998: New Irish Music launches its search for
music for new Harp Lager radio advertisements to air in
1999. Press release:
New Irish Music, the organisation based in New York
working to promote Irish bands to the American record
industry, is looking for music for a radio advertising
campaign to air in the USA during 1999.
In the last year a series of radio advertisements in the
USA for Harp Lager has proved to be a useful promotional
springboard for Irish bands. The Sawdoctors, The
Geraniums and New York-based Telulah Crash have had their
music aired nationally in America by this means.
The radio campaign has proved successful for Harp Lager
and will be expanded in 1999. Irish bands are invited to
submit material for consideration for this campaign to
New Irish Music, 131 Avenue B, Unit 3C, New York, NY
10009, USA ( mark envelope 'Harp Lager Advertisement' ).
The guidelines for content are loose: original material
with upbeat tempo and lyrics are favoured, with the theme
of 'common ground', friendship and cameraderie in
general. The idea of the campaign is to not only promote
Harp but also to promote the original material of Irish
bands. Guitar rock/pop has been favoured to date, but all
musical genres will be considered.
