Victoria Abril biography: ....(Born: July 14, 1959 - Madrid, Spain).....Bewitching brunette actress Victoria Abril launched her career in her native Spain in the late 1970s, appearing in stage productions and in such films as Mother, Dearly Loved (1979). By 1981, she had relocated to France, where she showed up in films like The Beehive (1981) and The Moon in the Gutter (1981). Victoria did some of her most fascinating work under the direction of the unpredictable Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodovar; as the doped-up porn actress in Almodovar's Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!, Ms. Abril participated in one of the loudest sex scenes in movie history. On one of her rare forays to the Western Hemisphere, Victoria Abril played a combative LA street person in the 1994 Joe Pesci vehicle Jimmy Hollywood.

In Pedro Almodovar's melodrama/murder mystery High Heels, the flamboyant actress mother (Marisa Paredes) of a Madrid anchorwoman named Rebecca (Victoria Abril) re-enters her daughter's life when she comes to perform a concert. Rebecca is married to one of her mother's ex-lovers and when he winds up dead, she confesses to the murder during her newscas t-- but is she just trying to protect her mother? High Heels isn't one of Almodovar's best, yet it has several excellent attributes, including an off-beat sense of humor and strong performances.

Set at the end of the 1940s, this drama about Pedro (Imanol Arias), a medical researcher, and his relationships with his family and women underscores the mood of repression that dominated Spain during Franco's fascist regime. Pedro lives in a boardinghouse and is attracted to Dorita (Victoria Abril), his beautiful neighbor. He wiles away his time with a wealthy friend and generally leads a normal life until he tries to save the life of a young woman who has had an abortion that went tragically wrong. He fails, and the woman's boyfriend comes after him, believing that he killed her.

1985.....La Hora Bruja
An accomplished and "enchanting" fantasy-romance, this story of a couple's love for each other and a pixie's benevolent
intervention in their lives is entertaining from beginning to end. Cesar (Francisco Rabal) is a fake sorcerer and travels with his
wife Pilar (Concha Velasco) in a combination bus and house, performing magic shows for the public. One time when they are
stuck in a ditch in the middle of nowhere, a beautiful young woman named Saga (Victoria Abril) helps them get out and back on the road
again. It soon becomes clear by her actions that Saga is a friendly pixie-witch. She and her warlock cohort cause Cesar's fake
magic to really work -- and that is just the beginning.
1985....After Darkness
1984.....Le Voyage
The emotional interplay between an arguing couple, in love but not happy with their relationship, is meant to be the sustaining
force in this crime drama with little other action. Thomas (Christophe Malavoy) has been blackmailed into carrying a shipment of
explosives in his Peugeot to Egypt, where the devices will be forwarded to guerrillas on Cyprus. He brings his lover Veronique
(Victoria Abril) along for the dangerous ride from Switzerland to the south, knowing the explosives can be easily detonated by
accident and enemy agents as well as government agents are out to capture him. Both protagonists have a short fuse themselves,
and as they separate and then come back together, their final destination looms ever closer in more ways than one.
1984.....Our Father [1985]
1984.....Bicycles Are For The Summer
1984.....Río abajo
1984.....L'Addition
The script concerns a stage actor (Richard Berry) who gets
arrested for trying to help a shoplifter (Victoria Abril) in a Paris
supermarket. He is sent to jail for assault, falls in love with the
shoplifter and inadvertently gets into more and more trouble while
he's in prison. When he's sentenced to maximum security after an escape attempt,
a sadistic guard allows him to be beaten by extortionists and
implicated in a drug deal and does all he can to continue the actor's
streak of bad luck.

Les Visiteurs Du Soir (1942)..... Director: Marcel Carne, Starring: Arletty....... Based on a medieval French legend, this poetic fantasy begins in a beautiful fairy tale setting, when Gilles and Dominique, two travelling minstrels, mysteriously appear at a grand castle. They proceed to entertain the guests at the wedding banquet for Renaud, a knight, and Anne, the baron's daughter. But their real purpose is a sinister one: they are Satan's envoys sent to Earth to destroy mankind's sense of morality. However, when Gilles seduces the bride, he falls in love with her, instead of completing his evil task -- and her devotion saves his soul. This film, which was produced in Occupied France, is meant to be an allegory for Hitler in his attempt to stifle the heart of France. Marcel Carne and Jacques Prevert collaborated on many films and their work, with its lyrical, surrealistic quality established the French cinematic style known as "poetic realism." Joseph Kosma composed one of the featured songs. Kosma, who was Jewish, lived in Nazi-occupied Paris during World War II, and worked under the pseudonym Georges Mouque. He also co-wrote several songs for other films with the screenwriter, Jacques Prevert.
