GIAA Mission ~GIAA~ GUILD OF ITALIAN AMERICAN ACTORS Founded in 1937 as the ITALIAN ACTORS UNION
An affiliate of the AFL-CIO A Branch of the Associated Actors and Artistes of America The Italian Actors Union was founded in 1937 by the late Antonio Maiori. Through the years, it has experienced many transitions as other theatrical unions and guilds emerged and jurisdictions were juggled. The IAU, now also recognized as GIAA, has always maintained a membership which never lacked a pride in heritage and confidence it its members talents and contributions to Italy and America. The purpose of GIAA is to Advance , Promote, Foster and Protect the welfare of its members and Sister unions: To assist such performers in securing just and equitable contracts and agreements with employers and to prevent and abolish abuses which GIAA members may suffer. To preserve the history and awaremeness of Italian heritage amongst its members. GIAA continues to reinvent itself. This is an exciting time in the existence and awareness of GIAA, having celebrated out 60th anniversary.
