An affiliate of the AFL-CIO
A Branch of the Associated Actors and Artistes of America

The Italian Actors Union was founded in 1937 by the
late Antonio Maiori.
Through the years, it has experienced many transitions
as other theatrical unions and guilds emerged and
jurisdictions were juggled.

The IAU, now also recognized as GIAA, has always
maintained a membership which never lacked a pride in
heritage and confidence it its members talents and contributions to Italy and America.
The purpose of GIAA is to Advance , Promote, Foster and
Protect the welfare of its members and
Sister unions:
To assist such performers in securing just and
equitable contracts and agreements with employers and
to prevent and abolish abuses which GIAA members may
suffer.
To preserve the history and awaremeness of Italian
heritage amongst its members.

GIAA continues to reinvent itself. This is an exciting
time in the existence and awareness of GIAA, having
celebrated out 60th anniversary.
