LADY OF THE LIGHT-Part 15

Jane spun on her heels and stared at Thorton. "Well Mr Thorton, What do you have to say about that? Still convinced it is nothing more than Folklore?"
Ms. Tolenz, I saw a beam of light, most likely reflected by the windows you cleaned, nothing more."
Jane could see the truth in his eyes, even if he would not admit it , even to himself.

Thorton left shortly afterwards, without climbing the tower. He made some lame excuse about being behind schedule. Jane was glad to see him leave and spent the rest of the day altering the keepers uniform and relaxing. In Two days the light opened to the public and she would be very busy. She went to bed early that night, intending to go to town first thing in the morning.

The next morning rain swept across the lake and dark grey clouds hung ominously over the point. Jane and Pete took a quick morning walk and then Jane headed into town by herself. She parked the truck outside the Bass Market. She went inside and greeted Mr. Cultry who was cleaning the front counter.

"Good morning Jim, Could you tell me where I might find a library with a computer?"
Jim smiled and thought for a moment, Hmm I think there is one of them over at the Mill Creek Library."
"Ok, Thanks I have to run, but I will be back , on my way home to place an order."
"I'll be here" Jim said good naturedly.

Jane spent the whole afternoon sitting at the desk in the back of the Mill Creek Library, where they kept the computer. The head Librarian was a pleasent woman who checked back wih Jane frequently. She and Jane had talked for almost an hour when Jane arrived, as she explained what she wanted to accomplish. Mrs Glen was impressed with Janes project and brought back several books during the afternoon that help quite a bit. By 4pm Jane had finished what she wanted and took her work up to the desk for Mrs Glen to see. The older woman carefully looked at the folder Jane handed her. "My dear this is wonderful! I'll get the keys to the copier, and we can print up copys, In fact on the House so to speak."
"Thank you ever so much."Jane replied. On the ride back home Jane felt very pleased with herself. She may not make alot of friends in the State offices, especially one Mr. Thorton, but she knew she had done the right thing. If Nothing else Jane Tolenz will be one of the most entertaining and informative keepers Eagles Point had had in many years.......TO BE CONTINUED JANUARY 1st.
