Teacher Resources

This is the Teacher Resource page. On it can be found a number of links to assist teachers in obtaining information from a wide variety of sources in order to supplement their teaching. These resources contain or connect you to vast amounts of knowledge, whatever your subject area. The most general resources are listed first, followed by the more specific subject areas.


GENERAL
The sites in this first section link to information in every subject area.
The WWW Virtual Library provides countless links to virtually every subject imaginable (from African studies to Zoology).
Educational Resources on Internet is an alphabetized page which connects you to a huge array of educational sites.
Classroom Connect allows teachers to obtain information about Art, History, Literature, and Science and has its own search engine.
The Online Educator has links to useful sites for teachers and has a searchable archive.
The Curriculum Resources Page gives teachers the choice of subject matter they wish to find and provides them with a variety of resources.
Jerome and Deborah's Big Page of Teacher Research Sites is a fabulous site with links to Geography,Science, Math, History, Language Arts, Music and Dance, Art, and others. It also lists links where teachers may go for help (lesson plans, ideas, etc.)
The Librarian's Guide to Cyberspace gives teachers and parents access to a wide variety of excellent learning sites for children.
Blue Web'n is an educational site which provides links to information on tutorials, activities, web projects, lesson plans, references, resources, and hotlists.
The Encarta Lesson Collection provides teachers with access to lessons and information on Fine Arts, Science, Language Arts, Math, Social Sciences, and Foreign Languages (among others).
MATHEMATICS
The Math Forum (which includes searchable materials and resources by subject)
The Mathematics Page and
The Geometry Center all provide useful links for Math teachers.
The Eisenhower National Clearinghouse for Math and Science Education provides both Math and Science teachers with enormous amounts of resources and links and provides searchable resources.
The Biographical Index Page provides access to dozens of historically important mathematical and scientific figures listed alphabetically.

SCIENCE
Sea World at Busch Gardens is a science site which provides fabulous information about numerous species of aquatic and other creatures.
The Nine Planets
The Educator Resource Center for NASA (Langley) and
Space/Astronomy for kids are excellent sources of information on outer space and astronomy, for both students and teachers. The latter is designed particularly with children in mind and spotlights topical events.
Junk Science is a site where current science-based news stories are discussed and debated in various publications.
Yahooligans provides information for children and their teachers regarding science, history and geography. It also has its own search engine.
Tiptop Virtual Lab is a great resource for physics teachers as it provides them with information about a wide variety of physics problems and experiments (e.g. Simple Harmonic Motion vs. Uniform Circular Motion, Chaotic Maps, etc.)
MBG Teachers' Spot is a useful site for biology teachers as it contains a great deal of information about plants and animals.

SOCIAL STUDIES
City Net and
U.S. Cities both provide teachers and students with access to almost limitless information about cities. The former provides links to cities around the globe and the latter to primarily U.S. cities.
National Geographic provides educators and their students with current, interesting, and unusual stories about the world around us. Also has its own search engine.
The Mining Company's Guide for Geography has weekly articles about geographical concepts and annotated links to some of the best geographical resources. It contains not only interesting and topical information, but also has an assortment of world maps.
Policy.com is a great social studies page which has discussions and articles about news and current affairs. Primarily of interest to older high school students.
MBG Teachers' Spot is also a useful site for geography teachers as it contains information about maps and the weather.

MUSIC
K-12 Resources for Music Educators and
Sibelius Academy Music Resources are wonderful sites designed to assist music teachers in finding resources to teach students not only about how to play music, but also about music. The first site includes a breakdown for those interested in band, orchestra, and vocal music and the second has links to areas such as music theory, composing, and jazz, to name a few.

LANGUAGE ARTS
Score: California Language Arts Teacher Resources has teaching strategies, access to literature, and a useful activity bank.
Galaxy provides teachers and their students with access to various authors, hypertext fiction, poetry, and other writing and includes collections of reading materials, many of which can be found via a built-in search engine.
World Writers is a helpful site where students and teachers can get ideas on how to write a story (includes links to a variety of writing resources).

ART
The Art Teacher Connection has ideas on how to use technology with Art and includes hundreds of Art links.
CGFA Art Page has an index of artists which allows you to view numerous works of art by a variety of painters. It provides bios of artists and background on selected paintings. It includes a search feature where you can search by artist's name, nationality, or the period of time in which a painting was created.

FOREIGN LANGUAGES
The French Language Resources Page is a site where learners can benefit from various grammar, cyberfiction, and other links provided here.
The Italian Page is informative as it permits learners to enjoy some of the links to Italian sites given here.For example, Italian city information, penpal connections, and Italian literature can be accessed.
Teaching with the Web and Travlang (Foreign Languages for travellers) provide teachers and students with access to learning the basics of several languages with a wide assortment of links.The former includes information on German, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, and Russian and provides links to grammar exercises and other great web sites. The latter allows you to search for the specific language you wish (from among 60) and learn some of the basics (geared toward travellers). It also includes links to to an enormous amount of information about a variety of countries.
