Summer's Ending
I can't believe that summer is almost
over and Joey will be home in only a few
hours! And then only one week until
school starts. This has been a very
interesting summer. Only a couple of
months ago, Joey and I were only
friends. And then that wonderful yet
confusing evening...
SEASON FINALE
Dawson and Joey finally break away from
each other.
D: Jo... I'm sorry it took me so long
to realize that I wanted to be more than
friends with you. And now that this
wonderful thing has happened..and you
must leave me" (Dawson is almost in
tears)
J: But.... do you want me to go to
France?... I thought... You don't want
to be with me
(Joey turns away from Dawson - looks
out the window with tears welling up in
her eyes)
D: Joey (turns her back around) of
course I want to be with you.. I
thought that after that kiss you would
know how I felt about you. I ... I
love you, Jo.
(Joey looks up at him, with a smile on
her face)
J:(excited) well then I won't go.. I
won't go to Fra-
D:(cuts her off) No Joey. I can't let
you give up an opportunity like that for
me. You've wanted to get out of
Capeside for as long as I can remember.
Here's your chance. If you give it up
for me, you'll never really be able to
forgive me. You'll always be thinking,
‘What would have happened if I'd gone'
J: But I don't want to leave you! Not
now, not when we have just started to
take our relationship to a new level.
Not now that you....you love me.
(Dawson puts his arms around Joey.)
D: I know Jo. I can't believe myself
that I'm telling you to go. But I do
really love you, and I know that this is
for the best. Besides, you can do a
summer semester of school over there and
then come back in time to start school
here next year. It'll only be a few
short months. And then you'll come
backto me with no regrets. And I'll be
here waiting for you.
J: I would really love to see France,
but if I go, you have to promise to
write me every day and tell me about
life here in Capeside. And Dawson....
promise me that you will be here FOR ME
when I get back. It seems like I just
got you and already I'm losing you.
D: You'll never lose me again. And
besides(Dawson smiles), there are
millions of movies where the girl leaves
and the guy stays at home. They always
get together in the end.
J:(smiles back) I should have known that
you would bring a movie into this.
WellI guess I'd better break the news to
Bessie and start getting ready to go.
D: You'll come over later? And spend
the night.
J: I don't think that it is a good idea
for me to spend the night here
anymore...
D: Come on Jo. You're leaving in 2
days. I want to spend as much time with
you as possible. I'm not saying that we
will have sex, if you're not ready,
we'll wait, I just want to hold you.
J: (Smiling). Alright then. I'll be
back in awhile.
Back to the end of the summer
D: The next two days were both wonderful
and terrible. Joey and I spent all of
our time together, going on picnics and
watching movies and just holding each
other. But every minute that we spent
together brought us one minute closer to
her departure.
Finally, the day came and she was gone.
I spend the next week with Pacey, just
mopeing and missing her. He seemed to
miss her as much as I did. So I wrote
her letters and counted down the days
until she would come home.
Pacey started spending less time with me
when he met a new girl in town, Lily.
He invited me to spend time with the 2
of them, but I was afraid of being a
third wheel. Besides I couldn't imagine
having fun in Capeside without Joey.
But Pacey finally managed to convince me
that he and Lily were only friends and
Jen started hanging out wiht them also.
The letters that Joey sent to me were
filled with all of the wonderful things
that she was doing and all of the new
friends that she was making. So if she
could have fun, why couldn't I....
