The black BMW turned a corner rather sharp, causing Pacey to fly over in his seat, hitting his head against the window. Lindsay must've been doing at least 65, and the road wasn't exactly the best area for speeding.

"Hey Linds, you think we could slow down a bit? Getting there fast sounds good, but alive sounds like a better plan." Jen mentioned to Lindsay who had gone off into her own world while the sounds of Days of the New blasted from the car's stereo.

"Huh? Oh, you wimping out now?" Lindsay asked Jen, quickly turning to give Jen a stare. "Not really, but our friend Jo was nearly killed out here in a bus accident, I'd rather not have a repeat." Jen admitted as the car sped around a corner, jolting Pacey again.

"Um, I gotta agree with Jen, I wasn't planning on whiplash as part of the fine night of fun." Pacey added holding his hand up to his head where he hit the window, but still managed to throw a witty comment.

"I guess you Capeside people really need to lighten up. I mean you've done nothing but whine since we left." Lindsay said as she pulled the car to the side of the road. "It looks like you've changed Jen, and not for the better." She said coldly, "I still have enough time to get where I'm going. You in or what?" she asked rather sharply.

After about three seconds, Jen made up her mind. "You know Lindsay, I thought his might have been fun, but it doesn't seem that you're interested in real fun. Pacey?" Jen said as she opened the door to the car and began to get out.

"Jen? How are you gonna get back?" Pacey asked, looking at Jen like she'd gone a bit nuts, they were half way to Boston and picked now to get in a fight with the driver.

"Looks like your gonna walk." Lindsay turned and gave Pacey a look that could kill. This glance he actually felt, unlike the evil glances Joey always threw at him. "Whatever." Pacey grumbled as he opened the car door and got out.

"Hey Lindsay, thanks again." Jen said as Pacey slammed the door shut and turned to look back as the car sped off. "Bitch!" Jen screamed, as the car became a small dot on the edge of the viewable horizon.

"Great, now what?" Pacey looked to Jen, but she returned a cold glance. "Look, I'm sorry Jen. We just have to figure out how the hell were gonna get home." He continued as they began to walk in the direction they came from.

"I know Pace, I guess some people never change." Jen admitted as she caught back up with Pacey and they headed towards Capeside.

"Jen? Now might not be the best time, but I figured we could talk, since we've got quite a walk ahead of us." Pacey said as they strolled down the side of the road. "I mean since we don't get much chance with all of the strange things happening back home." He continued as Jen slowed down a little.

"Huh, sure Pacey. What's on your mind?" she asked, a little confused at his openness. "It's just this mess with my Dad. I really don't miss the constant aggravation, but I think my hiding from it won't fix the problems any faster." Pacey said with a sigh as they strolled down the road.

"I don't know Pacey, It doesn't sound like he's too willing to listen." She paused, thought for a second, and continued "But if he was as affected by your little talk as you said, he might just make the first move, but with his ego, it could take a while."

Dawson was sat at a table at the Icehouse, Joey's shift ended in five minutes. He watched as she busily cleared off a table, and ran over to take another order. He couldn't keep his mind clear though. He even surprised himself with the thoughts popping up into his head. "God, I'm gonna turn into Pacey if I'm not careful." He thought as he watched Joey bring the new order into the kitchen.

"So, how are the happy couple?" Dawson heard as Bessie walked over, taking her apron off and sitting down across from him. "Hi Bess, everything's great." He said as he caught another glimpse of Joey bringing the drinks out to the table where she had just taken the order.

"I knew it'd happen eventually, you know." Bessie admitted to Dawson, who looked to her and replied "Yeah, I've heard that lately, it seems I was the only one in the whole town who didn't." He sighed as he watched his love run back into the kitchen looking weary and very tired.

"Look Dawson, I didn't really want to get into this so quick, but you guys are using protection, right?" Bessie asked with her face a little red with embarrassment.

"God," Dawson coughed. "No Bessie, we haven't" Dawson said, and seeing Bessie facial expression change, and he quickly continued before she exploded. "We haven't needed any yet." He admitted to Bessie's relief.

"Sorry for prying, just checking. Honestly I'm surprised with the way she runs around at home with her head in the clouds." She said as Joey walked up, pulling off her Apron and plopping on the seat next to Bessie.

"Ok, Table 5 is just waiting on the meal." Joey said to Bessie, who quickly ended her conversation with Dawson at risk of having Joey throwing a fit. "Sorry Bess, but they're all yours. If I don't get out of here I'm going to scream." Jo said as she handed the order book to Bessie, who didn't even seem to mind.

"They're the last ones for the night, anyway, go have some fun." Bessie said to a very much-relieved Joey. "Thanks Bessie," Dawson said as Joey grabbed her coat and they headed for the door.

"Play safe!" Bessie shouted to Dawson as they left, who shot an embarrassed glance back to Bessie, who smiled as they walked off.

"What was that all about?" Joey asked as they walked towards Dawson's house. "Ah, nothing important, Bessie just thinks that we're having sex. The usual." Dawson said, awaiting her big freak out.

"She what!" Joey shouted as she stopped walking. "Look Jo, she just asked if we use protection, and I told her we haven't yet." He explained before she tried to kill him.

"You what! Ugh!" she screamed and continued to walk. Dawson stood there a little confused. "Joey, look, she'd have pried it out of me anyway, and I didn't say anything that wasn't true. Right?" Dawson asked.

Joey looked at the sincere look on Dawson's face, "Look Dawson, I'm sorry I snapped at you, but you KNOW Bessie is gonna interrogate me every time I come over here now that she knows the thought is in your mind."

Dawson smiled at the thought, leaned over and kissed her. "Yeah, it's kinda cool. You know, we can keep her in suspense." He said, watching Joey roll her eyes.

"It will be far more fun to screw with Pacey's mind" she laughed, walked ahead, turned and sexily gestured for him to follow as they continued walking into town, knowing that toying with Dawson drove him nuts.

After a long walk, Jen and Pacey finally reached a bus station. They had talked almost the entire time that they walked, Jen was amazed at how intelligent and funny Pacey was, she figured he must hide who he's become to appease the image of a loser that his father had impressed on him with the constant put downs.

"Thank god! Can we go home now, Pacey?" Jen asked sounding very tired. "Certainly, my dear" he said in a snooty voice, getting a giggle out of Jen, "I'll go get the tickets." He said and walked up to the ticket booth. Jen watched him as he asked about the next bus, purchase the tickets and ran back over to her.

"Come on, the last bus back to Capeside leaves in five minutes." He said as he offered her his hand. She accepted it as she stood up and they walked over to the terminal and boarded the bus.

"Tickets please." The Bus driver asked as they boarded the Shoreline bus. Both were nervous about riding on a bus after what happened to Joey, but considering the alternative, neither complained. Pacey handed the tickets to the driver, and lead Jen back to two empty seats where he asked "Window seat?"

"Nah, I plan on catching some Z's on the way back, I'm beat." Jen said as Pacey sat down in the bus seat and thought about how comfortable anything seems after two hours of walking. Jen sat down, stretched out in the seat, and closed her eyes.

Joey opened the door to Dawson's room and walked inside, the light was off and it was pitch black, but she found her way around like it was her own room. She hit the light, walked over to the bed and sat down on the edge. She pulled her hair out of the braid and began to rub her neck, which was killing her after running around after customers all day, she also had quite the headache, which after the accident, hurt a lot more than it did in the past.

"God, today was terrible, We had this large group of rude middle school kids coming back from a field trip. One of the jerks grabbed my ass as I walked by." She ranted as Dawson walked over and sat next to her and began to massage her neck.

"The little jerk, only I can do that." Dawson said smiling as he quickly reached over for her derriere. She saw him going for it and pushed him off the bed. "Damn Dawson, keep it in your pants." She said as he sat back up with an extra large grin on his face.

"Sorry Jo, I couldn't resist, I mean you do have a really nice ass." He admitted, leaning back to get a look. She grinned and pulled him over to her. "You know I don't take compliments well, but I think I'll make an exception this time." She said as she pulled Dawson into a very passionate kiss.

"Umm, I'll have to compliment your butt more often then," he said as she pulled away. "Can you just shut up for a while?" she asked, pulling him back into the kiss and they squirmed up further onto the bed.

The feeling of something leaning against him disturbed Pacey, he opened his eyes to find that Jen had fallen asleep and had leaned up against him. He was glad to see her looking so peaceful, especially after what she's had to endure in the last couple of months.

Pacey has been sat there watching Jen sleep for five minutes before a small pothole jostled the bud enough to disturb her, and she began to stir. Pacey didn't move, hoping she'd fall back asleep, she needed the rest after the long walk. Jen slowly opened her eyes and saw that she was on the bus and had fallen asleep on Pacey.

"Hey there sleepy," Pacey said quietly. She looked up at him and smiled. "Hmm, you make a good pillow," she said sleepily as she sat up straight and stretched. "Where are we anyway?" she asked, "We're just outside of town, we'll be at the bus station in about fifteen minutes." He replied as she sighed and looked back to him.

"You'll wake me up when we get there, right?" She asked as she laid her head back onto Pacey's shoulder, since he didn't seem to mind. "Jen?" Pacey asked, causing her to lift her head back up. "I had a good time tonight, after we ditched Lindsay of course. Thanks for letting me come along" He finished.

"Me too, you really are nicer than everyone thinks," she said still sounding drowsy. She looked into Pacey's eyes and instantly they were both locked in each other's stares. After a couple of seconds, Jen moved her head up, Pacey moved his down and their lips soon met in a kiss.

The End

Jen and Pacey have finally realized their feelings for each other and expressed it in a kiss. Will Dawson need to take Bessie's advice about playing safe? What the hell happened to Lindsay? It'll all be answered in the next chapter of Storm's End. Back To Fanfic Page
