Feelings Revealed

Joey was getting ready for school, it was 6:30 am and she just really woke up. She thought some music would help her to wake up. She turned on her radio/CD player, not so loud that it would wake the baby, God knows she couldn't take that this morning. The song that came on was "When I think of You" by Janet Jackson. She collapsed to her bed, as she listened to the song, her thoughts turning to Dawson.....

"Oh, baby anytime my world gets crazy All I have to do to calm it Is just think of you Cause when I think of you, baby Nothing else seems to matter Cause when I think of you, baby All I think about is our love I just get more attached to you. You pull me in your arms and squeeze me Then you leave me making me blue Then I think of you, baby Nothing else seems to matter Cause when I think of you, baby All I think about is our love"

That was so true, whenever she was down, or upset in order for her day to be okay the rest of the day, id think of Dawson. His sweet smile, his personality, which always gets her to laugh even on her worst days. Like when Bessie was giving birth her thought went back to her mother, and she confided in Dawson, and he helped her to go inside to Bessie's side. No one else could've done that for her....no one understood her like Dawson. And whenever they did hug, or whatever, he'd let her go, and she'd be down again, but she's always put a smile on to distract him from wondering.

"I'm so in love I just think of you If your not around When I think of you!! So in love (repeat 8X) Break Feels so good When I think of you"

Oh, yeah...that helped me wake up...she thought. It woke me up enough to make me want to stay home. She gave a grunt as she laid back on her bed, her hands on her face. She grabbed the first pillow her hand laid on top of, and placed it on her face. Another day of just being Dawson's best-friend...another day of hiding her true emotions. How many more days till she can feel like she can tell him?? How many....it was a question she was afraid would never get answered.

--------------------------------------------------

Joey left the house without waking a soul. Her thoughts were filled with Dawson, and their night on Friday. She hoped no one knew.....then she realized that she had acted like Dawson and her had "done the deed" when Pacey was over there, harassing him about last night. Dawson and her had so much fun Saturday, she had forgotten to tell Pacey the truth. She stopped in mid-walk, and slapped her hand against her forehead. Stupid, Joey!, she thought. She had to get to school fast, and pray to God Pacey hadn't opened his big mouth to Abby...or anybody. She regained her control, and began to run to school. God help Pacey if he said one word to anyone. Because he was gonna need all the help he was gonna get if he did...in order to stop her from beating him to a pulp.

Dawson arrived at school, and saw Jen standing by his locker. He made a confused faced as he walked up to her. He was thinking about Joey the whole way to school, he had wished she had stayed till this morning, but like always, she left before he woke up. How did she always get away without waking him. She was as sly as a cat ready to attack, he thought.

"Jen, hi." he said, opening his locker.

"Dawson, I need to ask you something.....it has to do with you and...."she paused. "Joey."

Dawson stopped with trying to remember his combination when she said that. It must have something to with Friday night...but the only one who knew anything was...Pacey!!, he thought.

"I heard that you and Joey did "it" Friday night...." she said looking away. It was the type of thing she didn't like confronting anyone about.

"Pacey said something to you, didn't he?" Dawson said, looking straight at her.

"Yes....what I want to know is this: is it true?" Jen asked, returning his gaze.

"Look, its not true. We played a joke on Pacey. That's all." he said, closing his locker. Not that he wouldn't have loved for that to be true. "I have to go. Bye."

Dawson walked away, leaving an embarrassed Jen behind him.

Where ever Joey walked, she felt eyes on her. Talking about her. She was used to it, because of her father, but this time was different. She had a gut feeling that it was about her and Dawson. She didn't want him to get any of this "special" attention. He didn't deserve it. She hoped he wasn't getting the same feeling as she was. Joey made it to the cafeteria, and stood in line. She got the special that day, pizza...or what resembled pizza. She might order it but not always eat the main course. She walked over to the table where Dawson, Pacey, and Jen had been eating lunch since school began. It was right behind the Jocks table. She loved to hear them describe their wins...in more than the games. But this conversation was about a sophomore, and another sophomore doing it Friday night. She dropped her head down in disgust. Two of the main jocks from the table got up and walked over to her.

"Hey...Joey right?" one of them said, he moved the plate of food over, and sat down right in front of her.

"Yeah, what of it?" she said, acting cool.

"We heard you and this guy name Dawson are...say we say...an item." the one standing beside her said.

"Yeah, and we were wondering if it was true....." the one on front of her asked.

"Because we were like easy dates....and it seems to us you are." the one on the side said.

"Really?" she said sarcastically. " I hate to burst your small....and I mean small bubble, but no. Its not true. Alright...now if you don't mind..."she said standing up, but there was a jock behind her, that pushed her back down.

"What are you trying to be...Mafia men? Sorry to say, but you need bigger IQ's to do anything close to it."

"We like you, Julie..." the one in front of her said.

"It's Joey." she smirked.

"Whatever...we just figure you're lying."

" Why's that?" she asked.

"Well, for one what you did to our pal a few days back. And two, because we heard it from a friend of yours. Pacey Witter."

"Oh...well you see he's a consistent liar. Its how he gets his thrill." she said.

"Mind getting away from her...It doesn't look like she likes your company very much." a voice said from behind the jock in front of her. The Jock gets up, and she sees Dawson standing behind him. What is he nuts? she thought. They'll murder him! She just sat there, not moving. She gave him a look that said "I-can-handle- this" but he shrugged it off.

"Well, what if we don't want to. What are you going to do? Make us?" he said laughing, his friends following him.

"If I have to." Dawson said. His voice sounded calm, and she was surprised to see him this way. Out of all these years, he has never stood up to someone twice as big as he is. Come to think of it...he never has.

"Well, then I say you'll have to." he said walking closer to him. "Wait a minute....are you Dawson? Yeah, you are. Of course...I see."

"You see what?" Dawson asked.

"Well, lover boy came to save his girl. Ok, well...."he was interrupted when he say the principal enter the cafeteria, and starred in his direction. "We'll finish this later, film boy." he gestured for his friends to leave her alone.

"You okay, Joey?" Dawson asked her, sitting down next her. "What did they want any ways?"

"Okay, and they wanted to know if they could get an easy date. You know why...because we forgot to tell Pacey what I said Saturday morning was a joke, and now everyone thinks...."she let her sentence drag out.

"Oh, no!!" he thought.

"Yeah, my sentiments exactly. One thing though Dawson.." she said.

"What?"

"What was that all about?" she asked.

The bell rang, and he let out a sigh.

"Come on....lets go to class." he said, standing up, and waited for her. Joey knew he wasn't gonna answer that question. But she wanted to know what made him think he had to protect her all of a sudden.

"There's a dance tonight." Dawson said as he walked with Joey to his house.

"Yeah, Dawson. I know." she said.

"Well, I was wondering want to go?" he said smiling at her.

"What? What for? Neither of us like dances, Dawson. The only reason either of us went last time, was because you wanted to spy on Jen, and you dragged me along with you." she said.

"I know, but it would be fun this time. I promise. No talking of Jen, or what happened at school today, and hopefully no sign of Pacey so we don't kill him." he said, trying to convince her.

"What I want to know is why you stood up to those Jocks for me today? That's all....I mean you know I can handle those ego trips."

"Yeah, I know. But they had you surrounded, Jo. They wouldn't let you leave." he said, smiling. "Look, you're my best friend, and if there hadn't been so many of them around you, I would have left you alone." he said.

That wasn't what he wanted to say though. He wanted to tell her it was because he loved her.

"Well, that was great of you, Dawson." stupid, but great, she thought. "About the dance tonight though...."

"Come on Jo....the theme is Grease. It'll be fun, to see what everyone wears, and what the gym is gonna look like." he used the same tone he did for the other dance he talked her into.

"Fine...fine. I have to get a costume though...so do you." she said.

"Okay with me. I'll pick you up at seven. Bye." he leaned down and kissed her cheek, and ran off toward his house. Leaving her alone on he dirt path.

Dawson had bought a tux that resembled what Travolta wore in Grease. He greased his hair back, and took a piece of his hair our from the top, and curled it. He looked in the mirror of his closet when he was finished getting dressed. He looked almost like John Travolta did in the movie. He went out of his room, and down the stairs. He went into the living room, to say goodnight to his parents, and found them kissing on the couch. I guess they've worked everything out, he thought. He decided to leave without saying anything to disrupt them. Dawson stopped off at the flower shop on the way to Joey's and bought one white rose, but he found one even better. It was just like the flower from his dream when he had that fever. It was white, with a red trim. He bought that for Joey. Who said dreams don't come true? Because his was on the way to coming true. He was gonna admit his feelings to Joey tonight. No more holding back.

Joey had dragged Bessie to the costume store in town. They had tons of dresses from the sixties, but she wasn't sure which one she wanted to buy. But then she saw it. It was a dress that had a remarkable resemblance to the one Olivia Newton-John wore in Grease. She bought that one, and Bessie had bought the accessories...getting the idea she wanted to dress like Sandy did. They went home, and Joey jumped in the shower. She got dressed, with Bessie's help on her hair, and make-up. She resembled Sandy in every aspect once they were done. Bessie saw how nervous she was.

"Joey, you look great, and I am sure Dawson will notice that." she said.

"All Dawson is going to see is his best-friend all dressed up. That's all." Joey said standing up.

"Thanks though Bessie." she said.

"Yeah..."she said looking down at her book.

Joey walked to the front door, to go and wait outside, when there was a knock on it.

"Speak of the devil...." Bessie said.

"Dawson's hardly a devil....he's more like a guardian angel." Joey said back before opening the door.

Dawson stood there on the porch holding the rose in hand, and was shocked by how beautiful Joey looked. He smiled as he handed her the flower. By the expression on her face, he could tell he shocked her with how he was dressed.

"Hey, Sandy. Ready to go?" he asked trying to act like Travolta would.

"Sure, Danny hold on a second." she said laughing slightly as she walked over to Bessie. "Be back later."

Bessie smiled as they left. Tonight Joey was gonna have a night to remember.

They arrived at the gym, holding hands. Joey couldn't believe how Dawson had been acting. It was almost like the movie. They entered the gym to see it resembled the gym in the movie...streamers, and all. Except that annoying big snowman wasn't there...thank god. Plus the movie thing wasn't there, but that was the only exception. They saw Pacey in the corner, next to a fruit punch bowl. They walked up to him....Joey and Dawson had decided on the way to let what happened in the cafeteria stay there for tonight...when they got to him, they saw a shocking site. He had brought Jen to the dance. It shocked Dawson more though. They let go of each others hands as soon as Dawson saw Jen. She was dressed in a dress that Stockard Canning wore in the movie, and Pacey was dressed like bad boy in the movie.

"Hey you guys!" Jen said smiling.

"We didn't know you'd be here,..." Pacey said.

"Yeah, we thought it would be cool. I can't believe everyone dressed up for this. I thought there would be some outcasts...ya know?" Joey said smiling.

"You guys look good..." Jen said smiling. "I mean it. You both look like Sandy and Danny from the movie. Its frightening."

"Thanks." Dawson said smiling. "Joey what do you say we dance?" he said looking at her, and offering his hand.

"Sure." she said smiling, taking his hand. The song was on ended as soon as they stepped up on the floor. The song that was announced to come on was "Born to Hand Drive". Dawson looked at Joey.

"Wanna..." he said smirkingly.

"Yeah..."she said laughing.

The song came on and they began dancing like they did in the movie. They were so into the dance that they didn't even notice the whole dance floor clear an huge opening for them. They didn't know they knew the dance so well. They were laughing and having a blast. Dawson twirled her, and she went into the crowd, just like in the movie. And just like in the movie Jen came into the dance, and continued the dance. But Joey wasn't gonna run away like Sandy did. She went back into the dance...when Dawson twirled her. Jen didn't come back in, Yes!!, Joey thought. I won this time.

"Okay everyone..." the student body president announced as the music stopped. "I know the theme tonight was Grease, but what it was suppose to be was a mix of Grease and Dirty Dancing. Why two themes you might be wondering...well, we couldn't decide. So, there will be songs from Grease and Dirty Dancing. That's all guys. Have fun!!"

The song that came on was "You're the one I want". Joey and Dawson stayed on the dance floor, and everyone got into it. They started dancing in ways they never thought they could. Dawson was having the time of his life. And what a better night to tell Joey how he feels about her.

* * * * *

A couple songs from Dirty Dancing played, but the next one was "Hopelessly Devoted to you" by Olivia Newton-John. They smiled thankful for the break, and started Dawson pulled her close to him. Joey felt like she was in heaven. This whole night was a dream come true. He wanted to dance with her, there was no hidden agenda for coming to the dance. He asked her, and that was it. No other reason. She felt his head tilt to where it was touching hers, and she smiled.

"Guess mine is not the first heart broken My eyes are not the first to cry But I'm the first to know There's just no getting over you Alone I'm just a fool who's willing To sit around and wait for you But baby can't you see There's nothing else for me to do I'm hopelessly devoted to you But now there's no where to hide Since you pushed my love aside I'm out of my head Hopelessly devoted to you Hopelessly devoted to you Hopelessly devoted to you My head is saying fool forget him My heart is saying don't let go Hold on to the end and that's what I intend to do I'm hopelessly devoted to you But now there's no where to hide Since you pushed my love aside I'm out of my head Hopelessly devoted to you Hopelessly devoted to you Hopelessly devoted to you"

The song ended, and everyone clapped. Dawson reluctantly pulled away, and clapped also. The principal walked to the microphone, and announced the last song for the evening was next after "Hungry Eyes" which was next. He didn't say the name, but everyone figured it out....Dawson had an idea, and excused himself and went to Pacey. Pacey got an evil grin and shook his head yes to whatever Dawson asked him. Dawson came up to her and follow his lead in a few minutes. Joey said ok...with hesitation. They would be doing what he had planned with the principals consent. Dawson walked up to Joey when the song was over, and walked over to Joey, took her hand and walked her up onto the stage. She just got a bad idea. After seeing the movie they had done practice after practice of this dance till they had it as right as they did in the movie.

The music began, and he walked out just when Johnny had in Dirty Dancing.

"Now I've had the time of my life No I never felt like this before Yes I swear, its the truth And I owe it all to you Cause I've had the time of my life And I owe it all to you I've been waiting for so long Now I've finally found someone to stand by me We saw the writing on the wall And we felt this sudden fantasy Now with passion in our eyes There's no way we could disguise secretly So we take each other's hand Cause we seem to understand the urgency Just remember You're the one thing I can't get enough of So I'll tell you something This could be love because I've had the time of my life No I've never felt this way before Yes I swear, its the truth And I owe it all to you"

Dawson had jumped off the stage, and just like Baby did, she laughed. It was hilarious. She was having so much fun, though. And she had surprised her self that she remembered the steps so well....now could she remember the leap....??This seemed like a dream. Who would have pictured Dawson and her dancing like Johnny and Baby did in the movie. She was surprised the principal agreed to let them. In lots of schools it was still said to be "illegal" dancing. Dawson had picked up Pacey, Jen, Cliff and a few other people. How did he do that? Seeing how Cliff wasn't much of a friend to Dawson, or Pacey. He must be doing it for Jen, she thought. Seeing how close he was dancing toward her answered that question right then. Pacey, and Cliff helped her off the stage, and she ran, and jumped. Dawson lifted her up. The whole gym filled with clapping. It was a major rush. He let her down slowly, and they continued the dance. They smiled at each other, and soon they tension between them grew increasingly as the dance continued. But neither of them removed their smiles. Why should they? They were having a lot of fun. They never had this much fun at school dances. That's why they never went to them before. Just like Johnny did in the movie, he lipped the last lines of the song.....

"Now I've had the time of my life No I never felt this way before No I swear, its the truth And I owe it all to you!!"

They stopped dancing, and he lifted her up, her hands held onto his shoulders. He let her down, and motioned for them to leave. She shook her head in reply, and they left.

* * * * *

Dawson and Joey had stopped off at her. She changed out of the sixties dress into some more comfortable clothes. She put on a pair of jeans, which were tight on her, and a blue tank top with spaghetti straps. She brushed her hair out, and placed it back with a headband. Then they went to Dawson's where he changed into some comfortable clothes of his own. He washed all the grease out of his hair, and dried it as much as he could with a towel. He placed on slacks, and a white shirt. Grabbing his jacket, they left his house.

"I can't believe all that we did tonight!" Joey said laughing. They had walked to the ruins. It was a beautiful night out, the stars were shining their brightest, and the moon was full. The moon's light on the water, and Joey standing in front of it, was a mesmerizing site. Joey's back was to Dawson, and she didn't notice he was starring at her. She kept going, "I mean first the dance from Grease, then Dirty Dancing?! Weren't you at all nervous, Dawson about that last one?" she asked turning around.

"No," he said moving toward her. "Because I knew I had a great dance partner."

"Thanks, but I am not a good dancer," she said smiling.

"Yeah, you are." he said. "Joey, I need to tell you something." his voice changed to a serious tone.

"What is it, Dawson? You're voice went from fun, too deadly serious." she said turning to face him. They had to be no more than a foot apart, and Dawson moved in closer to her, he heard her hold her breath, and he starred into her eyes.

"Maybe I should just...show you..." he said, he placed his left hand lightly on her right arm, and his right hand came to touch her face, he caressed her left cheek before leaving it on her face.

"Dawson...what..." she was trying to stop what ever he was gonna do, but she could barely speak.

"Shhh...." his face went closer to hers, until their lips touched.

It was unbelievable. Joey was shocked that he was kissing her. She didn't think about why he was for long, though. She felt herself get lost within his passionate kiss, and she felt his arms wrap around her waist. Her hands went around the back of his neck, and her fingers began running through his hair, which was still slightly wet. Dawson pulled away to see the expression on Joey's face.

"I love you, Joey." he whispered, his head tilting forward to where it touched her forehead. "I have for awhile now. I just couldn't get myself to tell you...or show you. And the other night I wanted to kiss you when the song was over, but you pulled away. I was afraid that if I told you I loved you, you would either think it was a joke, and you would laugh. Or it would change our whole friendship. I need to know, Jo. I need to know, has this affected our friendship?" Dawson asked, looking into her eyes. They looked glassy, like she was about to cry. "Hey, what's wrong?" he asked, smiling.

"I love you, too." she said, as a tear fell down her cheek, and a smile came to her face. "I felt the same way about if I told you, or if I kissed you. I have known that I loved you since the dance where you went to spy on Jen, and we danced. I don't think anything could ruin our friendship Dawson. Nothing. This friendship we have is stronger than anything." she kissed him again, and he twirled her in his arms as they kissed.

"I can't believe this isn't a dream....." Joey said as she laid her head on his shoulder.

"Me neither....." Dawson said, tilting his head to where it laid on her head.

* * * * *

Jen and Pacey had followed Dawson and Joey to both their houses, and then to the ruins. What happened there was shocking. They had both confessed their feelings to each other, and Pacey was pleased. His feelings about the two of them were right on the money. He had to smile. He looked at Jen who's face was full of hurt, and Pacey tapped her on the shoulder. She looked at him, and smiled.

"I guess we were right, huh?" Jen said softly, so Dawson and Joey didn't hear her.

"Yeah, but are you alright?" Pacey asked, concerned. It wasn't his intention to make this hard for Jen. He knew she liked Dawson a lot.

"Yeah, I mean I knew he loved her, he was only infatuated with me." she said. "I even told her that...."

"You told who what...Joey?" Pacey said puzzled.

"Yeah,...it was when you, Billy, and Dawson went to Providence." she said. "Joey came over, and we had a cookie dough ice cream moment. I asked her if there was anyway we could keep Dawson from coming in between our friendship. And she said, yeah, he was only in love with one of us. And then I said, I know. It must be easier than to be just the object of his infatuation. She fell silent to that. She had no clue he felt the same about her."

"Wow....how did you know?" Pacey asked.

"I read in between the lines, Pacey." she said, "I noticed how he always talks about her, how they are always spending time with her, and most of all...how he runs to her when she is in pain, or he needs help with a problem."

They starred at Dawson and Joey for a little while longer, until they got tired of seeing them like that. Dawson and Joey laughed and talked for hours like their confession never happened.

But what no one knew, was how jealous Jen was. And that she was gonna be a threat to them now. There was also an unknown party at the ruins. No one, not even Pacey and Jen knew he was there. And he witnessed the touching scene as well. And he was not letting Joey get away that easily.
