"Jen, I am not getting dressed up to go to Dawson's." Joey crossed her arms across her chest.
"Come on Jo. It's not getting dressed up. It's just nice." Jen held out the shirt. "Please?"
"Why?" Joey asked suspiciously.
"Dawson's bringing a friend." Jen finally admitted. "A blind date."
"Who?"
"I don't know. He didn't tell me. He just said that he thought it was time for you to move on."
"I don't want to move on." Joey pouted, slumping on Jen's bed. "I want to move and change my name."
"You don't mean that Jo." Jen tossed her the shirt. "When I get back I expect you to be in this shirt."
Joey sighed and pulled her shirt off her head and slipped into Jen's. She had to admit, it looked nice.
It wasn't anything fancy, just a spheghetti strapped silver shirt with black lettering reading: Bite me. It was gift for Joey from Jen, Joey figured that out on her own.
Jen knocked on the door before reentering. "D'you like it?" She asked. "I saw it in the store and knew it was for you."
Joey blushed, smiling shyly. "Thanks." She said uncomfortably. "I like it."
"Good. Alright. Lemme get some make up on you and we can go."
"No. No makeup." Joey's eyes widened.
"Come on Joey. Just a little." Jen begged, pulling her over to the bed and sitting her down before Joey could argue.
Joey closed her eyes as Jen applied eyeshadow and mascara, then reluctantly agreed to a roseish light pink lipstick.
"It'll just rub off when I drink something anyway." Joey pointed out.
"That's why you're taking it." Jen slipped it into her pocket.
Joey sighed and held out her arms. "How do I look?" She grumbled.
Jen smiled. "You look great." She said. "Just one last thing."
"What?"
"Your hair." Jen grabbed a point comb and parted Joey's hair on the side. She looked dramatic, and pretty.
"You look georgeous!" Jen exclaimed, turning her to the mirror.
"Thanks Jen." Joey couldn't help but smile.
"Any time. Now let's go. If we leave now we can be fashionably late."
Joey laughed. "I wonder who this mystery guy is."
Jen shrugged. "I can't wait to see! I hope he's cute for you!"
The two girls giggled and raced down the stairs.

Dawson and Pacey looked up. "That's them." Dawson said excitedly. He checked Pacey's clothes, smoothing out his shirt.
Pacey pushed him away. "Get off man!" He exclaimed.
"Alright, calm down." Dawson and Pacey went over to the front door and opened it, Pacey leaning against the wall next to the door.
All Pacey could see was Jen, and all Joey could see was Dawson. Jen and Dawson kissed hello while Joey rolled her eyes.
"Come on in." Dawson invited grandly, stepping aside and gesturing to the house.
Joey rolled her eyes again. "I didn't think I'd ever see you act like such a prude Dawson." Joey told him, entering the house. Her back was to Pacey, who's eyes were wide.
"Jo, you look beautiful."
"Doesn't she?" Jen asked eagerly. "I told you Joey."
"I want it off." Joey grumbled, crossing her arms.
"I'm sure your date would love to take it off." Dawson's eyes twinkled.
"By the way, I do like the shirt. Bite me. Very original." Dawson grinned. "And now it's time for you to meet your date."
"Happy day." Joey rolled her eyes. "But if he tries to take off my shirt than he'd better expect a fist in his face."
"Jo, this is Pacey. Pacey, this is Joey." Dawson pointed behind Joey. Joey's eyes were wide as she whirled around.
"This is dirty play." Joey glared at Dawson and Jen.
"That's an understatement." Pacey crossed his arms. "Did you two really think that you could get away with this?"
They both nodded, huge grins on their faces.
"Well you were wrong." Joey told them flatly. She turned to the door and stalked out.
"Jo! Where are you going?!" Dawson called after her. She turned around to see Dawson and Jen in the doorway, illuminated by the light behind them. She had no idea where Pacey had dissappeared to.
"For a walk!" Joey called back. She turned around again.
"Josephine!" Joey heard Pacey call.
Joey whirled around. "Bite me Pa-" She stopped mid insult to catch a bouquet of flowers. Pacey was standing in the middle of the yard, and, after she stopped and stared at him and at the flowers in her arms, he turned around to go to his car.
From the house came a song. The two on the lawn stopped as they listened to the music. "I can't fight this feeling anymore" by Reo Speedwagon.

I can't fight this feeling any longer
And yet I'm still afraid to let it flow
What started out as friendship has grown stronger
I only wish I had the strength to let it show
I tell myself I can't hold out forever
I say there is no reason for my fear
'Cause I feel so secure when we're together
You give my life direction
You make everything so clear
And even as I wonder
What's keeping you in sight?
You're a candle in the window
On a dark winter night
....
And I can't fight this feeling any more
I've forgotten what I started fighting for
It's time to bring this ship into shore
And throw away the oars forever
'Cause I can't fight this feeling any more
I've forgotten what I started fighting for
.....
Baby I can't fight this feeling anymore.
.....

"Pacey..." Joey hesitated, then ran after him. He turned back, then caught her up in his arms in a huge hug.
"You ever play a dirty trick like what you did with Jen you're dead." Joey whispered in his ear as she clung to him.
"Are you kidding? I'm never letting you go!" Pacey said back, holding her with all his strength until he finally set her down.
"They're going to be smug." Joey sighed, nodding towards the house.
"Yup."
"Maybe we should go see a movie or something."
"Or maybe we should go yell at them."
"Or maybe we should thank them."
They burst out laughing. "Not a chance!" Joey giggled. Pacey opened the door to his truck for her, and she hopped in. He climbed in on the other side and started the car. They drove off.

"So where'd he take you?" Jen asked as she approached Joey.
Joey was sitting out on the docks, swinging her legs back and forth in the water.
"Well..." Joey trailed off, then patted the wood next to her. "Have a seat." Jen smiled and sat down. "What would you do," Joey started. "If I told you that Pacey and I kissed and decided that we were only friends?"
"I'd commit you."
Joey laughed. "Where are the men in white?" She asked, looking around.
"Jo... No..." Jen said in disbelief. "Please no..."
Joey flicked some water at Jen, who was taking off her shoes and socks.
"Pacey and I just drove for a while, then we took a nice long walk along the beach. And we kissed, but there were no fireworks. No... Nothing."
"Are you serious?" Jen asked, disappointed.
"No." Joey burst into laughter as Jen kicked water at her. "These weren't fireworks... They were dynamite!"
"A whole stick or 2/3rds?"
"Enough to blow up a cave!"
Jen and Joey giggled together. "I'm so relieved." Jen said. "I was worried that you and he really had not had anything."
"Don't I wish. It would make it a lot easier." Joey sighed.
"What?"
"Well... Pacey and I have spent so long fighting..."
"Probably the chemestry between you two. You refused to accept the fact that he and you were destined to be together and attracted to each other, so you sent the energy other ways. Mainly arguing."
"Yeah... But I think I might miss my arguing partner." Joey laughed.
"Well I think that we can schedule in a few fights every now and then." Pacey said, kneeling behind Joey and putting his legs on either side of her as he sat on his butt. Dawson put his arm around Jen and she leaned against him.
"What're the odds?" Joey shook her head.
"You have to admit... This is a bit strange." Jen agreed. "I mean, at first there was Dawson and me. Then there was Pacey and Miss Jacobs. Then there was Deborah and Anderson-"
"Who's Deborah?" Pacey asked, wrapping his arms around Joey's waist.
"It's a long story." Joey tried.
"Joey." Jen told him.
"I didn't know you were with some guy named Anderson. How come I never met him?"
"Pacey, control the jealousy factor would you?" Joey kissed him lightly and leaned against him. "Let's just say that he was the first guy that ever made me feel like a girl."
"What?!" Pacey yelped. Even Dawson stared. Jen, however, already knew about Anderson and Joey and their beach adventure that Dawson used to dream about, so she didn't look shocked.
"Not like that." Joey went on at their faces. She shifted uncomfortably. "Could we just drop it before I get defensive?"
"And then take the offense?" Pacey continued for her. "Yeah."
"So now what?" Dawson asked them.
"Now?" Joey smiled. "Now we pray that we can always stay this happy."

"Camping. Bugs. Me. Her. No." Joey shook her head, Jen shaking her head as well. The 'her' Joey had referred to was Jen. They were closer than ever, being the one girl friend that the other had never had. It was nice.
The two girls faced off against their boyfriends, who were doing their best to explain why they should all go camping together for a week. School was out already, and they were loving summer.
"Why don't you guys go?" Jen suggested. "Joey and I will stay here and have a girls week, while you boys go out and have a boys week."
"We're not leaving you here alone! For all we know some hot guys could snatch you up while we're gone." Pacey admonished.
Joey and Jen smiled and shook their heads. "Don't you guys trust us?" Joey asked.
"Oh no. The trust issue." Pacey groaned while Dawson nodded.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Joey demanded, her voice low and dangerous.
"It means that women normally have a problem trusting their boyfriends. It's a natural fact." Pacey told her.
"Women shouldn't trust their boyfriends! Men are always the cheaters!"
"Not always." Pacey said back. As Dawson and Jen watched warily, the two took tiny steps closer to each other as the arguement got extremely heated.
"The majority of the time! And the women trust the men! Why can't the men trust the women?"
"Women never trust the men! They always want to tag along to make sure that nothing happens to invade their territory!"
"Men are the ones who always want to go along!"
"Oh yeah? What about in Addicted to Love? Matthew Broderick didn't go with his girlfriend to New York and she left him!"
"Well I think we're a bit more trustworthy than that don't you think?!" Joey demanded. They were inches away from each other.
"I didn't say you weren't trustworthy! I said that I wanted you to come with us because it could be fun!"
"You clearly said that you were worried someone would come and take 'your' territory! Last I checked I belonged to me."
"What is the matter with you Jo? You're twisting my words around." "I am not-" Joey didn't finish as her eyes widened as Jen and Dawson pushed each of them forward to meet the other. They smiled at each other, embarassed, and then kissed.
"Yup. Thought so." Jen said smugly to Dawson, who nodded back.

"This sucks." Joey mumbled to Jen, who was busy slapping yet another mesquito.
"You know, no matter how many of these I scare away and how much stuff I put on, these bugs will not leave me alone!" Jen cried unhappily.
Joey glanced at the bottle of bug off Jen was putting on and laughed. "Jen, that's brand name crap. I.E. Crap. People buy it just 'cause of the brand name. You need this." Joey handed over her own bug spray. "I brought more than enough. I figured my boy toy would forget, but he surprised me."
Jen took the bottle and smiled gratefully. "How are things in Wonderland?" She asked Joey.
"Jen, you ask me that question every day."
"So? I tell you how things are between me and Dawson every day." Jen pointed out.
"That's true." Joey got a wicked grin on her face. "Pacey is perfect. I love him to death."
"Perfect huh? You two argued all the time and now you're madly in love with him?" Jen sprayed the bug spray again. "That's so cool!"
"So how are things with Dawson?" Joey asked, sitting down on a log. Jen sat down next to her, dropping her pile of wood. Joey added hers next to it.
"Great." Jen admitted, squealing a bit. "He treats me like such a queen. I always feel so special when he's around."
"Yeah. I feel that way with Pacey." Joey shook her head. "It's still odd to say that though."
Jen laughed. "I can only imagine." She handed Joey back the bug spray. "Thanks."
"No problem." Joey stood up. "Shall we go?"
"Sure." Jen and Joey picked up their wood again and continued on their way to the camp site, where the guys were busy setting up the tents.
"Hey Pace?" Jen and Joey hid behind a tree to see if they would say anything about them.
"Yeah?" Pacey was shirtless, and, after putting on bug spray, was not being attacked. Joey smiled and flushed at the sight of him.
"Dirty thoughts running through your mind?" Jen whispered, noticing Joey's face.
"You have no idea." Joey whispered back. They stiffled their giggles.
"How are things with you and Joey?" Dawson looked thoughtful.
Pacey's head snapped up from putting together the tent frame. "What?!" He asked, astonished.
"You and Joey. How are things?"
Pacey took a step back. "If you mean," He started. "Have I slept with your best friend then the answer is no. I wouldn't do that to her."
"What do you mean you wouldn't do that to her?" Dawson asked, throughly confused.
"Joey's..." Pacey trailed off, a far away intoxicated look on his face. "So pure... And innocent." He snapped back to reality, repicking up the frame of the tents and going back to work. "I don't know if I could take that from her." He shrugged and tried to figure out how to put the piece into the other one.
"How about you Dawson? How're things with Jen?"
"Great. She's georgeous, sensitive, and I love her." Dawson grinned while Joey glanced at Jen, who was blushing.
"D'you want me to ask if you've slept with her? 'Cause I won't if you don't want me to." Joey smiled at her boyfriend even though he couldn't see her.
"I haven't slept with Jen. We're going slow." Dawson suddenly looked stricken. "How slow are you going with Joey?"
Joey rolled her eyes. "My big brother." She mouthed to Jen, jerking her thumb at Dawson. Jen smiled, exasperated, and nodded.
"I'm going at her pace Dawson. The day that I pressure Joey into sex is the last day of our relationship."
"Why?"
"Because. I told you. Joey doesn't deserve that. She's too..." He trailed off, unable to think of a good word. "I'm in love with her." He said simply.
Joey was smiling so sweetly Jen wanted to take a picture. After a minute they backed up and headed to the clearing, laughing.
"Hey guys." Jen carrolled. They went to the firepit that was already made in the campsite and dropped down on one of the half cut logs that surrounded the camp area. Joey kissed Pacey's cheek quickly and sat down next to her.
"Did you guys have any problems?" Pacey asked worriedly. "Attacked by bears? Killer bees? Get hit on by some really hot guys?"
"Depends." Joey stood up and pressed especially close to Pacey. "Are you hitting on us now?"
Pacey smiled and put his arms around her. "What will it get me?"
"Mmm... You'll just have to wait." Joey moved like she was going to kiss him when she darted out of his arms laughing. "Wait wait wait wait." She giggled and went to go sit back to Jen.
"You're cruel."
"I'm insidious." Joey corrected. She opened up her back pack and pulled out a book. Jen did the same, and the two girls sat back to back, one leg over each side of the log so they could sit comfortably with back support.
Pacey and Dawson exchanged grins and went back to fixing the tents.

Joey sat happily snuggled in Pacey's arms. The fire was big and bright, and the stars shone up overhead. Jen and Dawson were locked in a passionate embrace, but nothing mattered to Joey, or to Pacey, except being with each other.
Joey leaned her head back against his chest. Pacey looked down at her and kissed her lovingly. They went back to watching the fire.

Joey woke up hot. She pushed off her heavy sleeping bag and stood up, forgetting that she was in shorts and a tee shirt, she went out of the tent. She screamed and ran back in.
Pacey and Dawson were out of their tents in a flash to see what had happened. Jen was sitting up, laughing at a freezing Joey who was curled up in her sleeping bag.
"What happened?" Pacey pulled Joey, sleeping bag and all, to him. He was smart, in sweats and a sweat shirt.
"She went out in shorts and a tee shirt." Jen giggled. Joey glared at her friend and threw a sock at her. Jen threw the sock back, so Joey threw a tee shirt. Soon clothes were flying all around the tent.
Pacey and Dawson sighed and shook their heads, Pacey bursting into laughter as Dawson got a shirt on his head. Joey and Jen stiffled their laughs, but soon they were laughing hysterically.
Dawson slowly pulled of the shirt and set it down on the ground. "Who threw it?" He demanded.
Each girl pointed at the other. They noticed what they were doing and burst into hysterics again.
"You two are too much." Dawson said, shaking his head. He turned around and left the tent. Jen giggled and followed after him, wearing sweats and a sweat shirt.
"You know, there's plenty of room in there for two..." Pacey intoned in a teasing voice.
"Yeah. It just might fit you by yourself." Joey giggled as he pretended to strangle her. She sat up and kissed him.
"Now get out of my tent so I can change." Joey ordered.
"Nah. I wanna watch." After hearing their conversation yesterday, Joey knew she didn't have to really argue with him to be serious. But that didn't stop her from arguing.
"Oh really?" Joey grabbed her shirt that she was wearing that day and turned her back on him. She moved like she was going to pull off the shirt she was wearing.
"Okay, okay. I'm going. Geez. You always get so serious." Pacey kissed her again, pulling her onto his lap. Joey's arms went around his neck; his around her waist.
It was nice to be with him this way. Kissing was so serious. Sometimes you can't control who you have sex with, i.e rape, but kissing... It was so involved. So deep. So sweet.
Joey was falling, falling, falling, and it was absolutely wonderful, because she knew that at the end of this endless falling there was a wonderfully warm light and beautiful cloud that would gently float her back to the top so she could fall again. She loved Pacey.
"I love you Pacey." Joey pulled back to tell him so.
"I love you too." Pacey slid her off his lap. "Now you'd better get dressed before you freeze to death. And I'm going." He held up his hands and shot her a grin before exiting the tent.
Joey smiled, reaching for her other shirt.
When she was dressed, she went out of the tent and allowed Jen inside, though the two girls wouldn't have minded changing together; it wasn't that big of a deal.
When they were all dressed, they looked up at the sun, already heating the place up and decided to go down to the lake and swim. Or sun bathe.
Joey had to admit. She liked hiking with Pacey now that they were dating. He pushed branches out of her way, and helped her gain footing when she lost it. She and Jen caught each other's eyes and winked. Joey automatically figured Dawson had been doing the same for her.
As soon as they got there Joey and Jen stripped out of their clothes and into their swim suits. They were both two pieces, and each girl looked hot.
The boys took longer to get out of their clothes, and Pacey pushed in Dawson. They burst out laughing while Dawson resurfaced and shot Pacey a dirty look.
"Who's next?" Pacey asked wickedly.
"Not me. I'm just gettin' some sun." Jen said, laying down on her towel on the dock.
"I'm with her." Joey told him, laying down on her own towel.
"You guys are no- woah!" Dawson was on the dock where Pacey had been standing seconds before. The girls burst into laughter again and began applauding Dawson, who bowed quickly.
"Where's Pacey?" Joey asked, sitting up quickly. She looked around, then went out to the edge of the dock to look for him. "Pacey?" No answer. "Pacey this isn't funny!" Still no answer. "Pacey if you don't answer me this very second than we're through!" Still no answer.
"Oh my god." Joey shot her two friends a frantic look and without hesitation dove into the water, where, seconds later, Pacey was surfacing and gasping for air. Joey swam over to him and helped him over to the dock.
"Pacey! What happened?" Dawson asked, helping his friend up onto the dock. Pacey looked down at his ankle and groaned.
Joey was already on the dock by then, with her towel, wiping off Pacey's face and pushing his hair back from his face.
Joey's face, after she had wiped it off, was still wet.
"Jo are you crying?" Pacey looked closely into his girlfriends face. He quickly pulled her into his arms. "I'm sorry... Shh... It's okay... It's alright... It's OW!" He yanked his ankle out of Dawson's reach and glared at his friend.
"God Pacey what the hell happened?" Dawson asked, kneeling down next to the ankle again. Jen took the other side, to hold down his leg Pacey assumed.
"My ankle got caught on something under there." Pacey told them, pulling Joey back into his arms and gently stroking her hair. She pulled back, her hair covering her tear stained face, and began to wipe him off with her towel.
"Looks like rope burns." Jen commented. Joey's head snapped down to his ankle.
The ankle did look like it had rope burns all over it. It was red and looked painful. There were dents in his skin from the frantic twisting he had done.
"There's an ace in my backpack." Joey told Jen. Jen reached over and grabbed it, unzipping it and pulling out the bandage. They began to wrap up the ankle, though Jen did have to actually sit on his leg to keep him from jerking it away from them. Dawson was having a hell of a time.
"Man that hurts D!" Pacey yelped. "Would you just leave it-" Pacey broke off as Joey's mouth pressed against him. There was no way he could fight when he couldn't think.
Minutes later Pacey's ankle was all wrapped up and Pacey and Joey were still at it. Dawson and Jen smiled and shook their head, laying down to get some sun.
Jen pressed the play button on her sterio, and "How do you talk to an Angel" by The Heights came out of the speakers.
"Jen's good." Joey said against his lips.
"She's very good." Pacey agreed, kissing her again. She was sitting right next to him, not on him, and she hugged him.
"I was scared." Joey finally admitted over his shoulder.
"Me too. All I could think was that the last thing you'd hear me say to you was that you were no fun. That could be very tramatic. If I had died you might have turned to pole dancing to prove that you could be wild and fun."
"Pacey..." Joey laughed and hugged him tighter, the smile vanishing. "I'm so glad you're okay."
"It's okay Jo..." Pacey pulled the towel around her shoulders and rubbed her skin through it. He kissed her cheek and then just hugged her.

Getting Pacey back was hard. He refused to be carried, but he couldn't keep up with the others.
"Finally." Jen said, flopping on the stump next to Pacey. "You know how Joey and I feel most of the time."
Pacey laughed. "This is annoying." He complained.
"You complain too much." Joey sat on his lap and wrapped her arm around his neck as a brace. He put his arms around her waist.
"But that's why you love me right?"
"Because you complain? No." Joey laughed at his expression. "You're a horrible whiner."
"Well." Pacey crossed his arms over his chest, and Joey, not expecting her brace to be gone as she slackened on his neck, fell on the ground.
"Ow." She said as the others burst into laughter. "Oh, I'm glad you guys are getting a kick out of this. My butt hurts."
"Poor Josephine." Pacey mocked pity.
"You're losing points by the ton Pacey." Joey warned him.
"Oh..." Pacey picked her up and set her back on his lap. She crossed her arms, refusing to look at him. He turned her head and kissed her. It left her dizzy and him barely able to support them.
"Okay you can stay." Joey told him dazedly. Jen and Dawson started laughing again.
"You know, it seems like you two have a purely sexual relationship." Dawson commented.
Pacey and Joey stared at him. "There's a lot more to our relationship!" Joey protested.
"Yeah. I just like to touch her." Pacey grinned wickedly and pinched her side. Joey smacked away his hand.
"Okay. I give." Dawson held out his hands in surrender.
"They enjoy each other." Jen added. Joey and Pacey nodded at her and turned back to Dawson, who was laughing.
"They used to hate each other."
"He just likes to rub that in." Pacey told Jen and Joey. "All the time."
Joey laughed, kissed her boyfriend on the cheek, and stood up. "Shall we go?"
"Yeah." Pacey stood up, wincing slightly. Joey wrapped her arm around his waist while his went around her shoulders. In that way she could help him walk.

When they reached the campsite they went straight to bed even though it was only 9. They were exhausted.
Joey didn't want to leave Pacey when he was injured, and made a deal with Dawson. After Pacey and Jen had gone to sleep, they'd switch so they could watch over their loved ones.
At 9:30, both Jen and Pacey were asleep so Dawson and Joey switched spots. Joey smiled at Pacey's easily breathing figure. She quietly moved Dawson's sleeping bag next to Pacey's and slid into it, watching Pacey before going to sleep.
"Jo?" Pacey's eyes opened to see Joey laying next to him. It was dead black outside, but Pacey could recognize Joey for anything.
Joey was asleep, a small smile on her face. Pacey smiled back, wondering what she was dreaming. She breathed peacefully, and looked so angelic that Pacey could figure why Dawson would like sleeping with her.
From Jen's tent came Madonna's "Crazy for You".
Pacey smiled down at Joey, thinking of how perfect she was. Then her eyes opened without the slightest trace of sleep. She'd been awake, hearing the song. Her eyes met his.
Pacey stood up, pulling her with him. She settled into his arms, and they danced.
"I love you Joey." Pacey told her softly, seriously.
"I love you Pacey." Joey whispered back. "More than anything."
"Anything." He echoed.

"I'm just glad to be home." Joey said to Jen. They were dangling their feet in the water, waiting for the guys to show up.
"Me too." Jen agreed.
"I think Pacey is, but he's too manly to admit it." Joey rolled her eyes. "His ankle hurts like hell."
Jen, always prepared with her sterio and cd's, pressed the play button. "Love of a lifetime" by Firehouse came out of the speakers.

I guess the time was right for us to say
We take our time and live our lives every day by day
You make a wish You send it up a prayer
We know our dreams can all come true.
....
'Cause you would never wonder
Will you be there for me?
....
I finally found the love, of the lifetime
A love to last my whole life through...
I finally found the love, of a lifetime
Forever in my heart, I finally found the love, of a lifetime.
...

Pacey slid in behind Joey, pulling her against him as the four sat quietly listening to the song. Joey smiled faintly as she leaned against Pacey. Jen was leaning against Dawson.
No one spoke as they listened, letting the words wash over them. It was true.

They had found the love of a life time in each other.
