Sunday morning our citizens were greatly shocked to learn of the sudden and awful death which came to Mr. Meeks while enjoying a ride in an automobile which he recently purchased and in which he took great pride. He was a careful driver and perfectly familiar with handling automobiles. The exact cause of the accident will undoubtly always remain a mystery. "Edd" as he was familiarily known was a young man of excellent qualities and one whose generous and cheerful disposition endeared him to the hearts of a large circle of aquaintances which he enjoyed. He was a musician of considerable ability, and took an active part in all musical organizations with which he has been connected. Until the time of his death, he was employed by the Shepard Electric Crane & Hoist company in Montour Falls. He commenced working for the above company a few years ago, and an inexperienced hand, but his natural ability as a machinist gained him rapid promotion and at the time of his death, he held a responsible position as tool-maker. Deceased was 33 yrs. of age and was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Chauncey N. Meeks, both of whom survive him. He is also survived by a sister, Miss Eva, and one brother, Floyd. The deepest sympathy is extended to the family in their loss of a son and brother. The funeral was held at the family home this afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. C. C. VanDeusen of the Presbyterian church officiating. Interment in the family plot at Montour cemetery.2. Floyd Irwin born Aug 1881 Montour Falls Schuyler Co. NY; died there 3 Nov 1941.
