February 1999 Ride Minutes

February 7, 1999, Sunday: Today we saw a return to warmer weathers with temps about the low 40s. And sure enough we had many of our regular people return about 75 total. Its good to see people back to our regular schedule. The Manhattan Waterfront ride went tremendously even though the Westside Highway construction is still quite a mess. But that is only a small part of our lower Manhattan ride. YES!!! A gorgeous day for bicycling.

February 14, 1999, Sunday: Today is Valentines Day, our day for lovers. Hahahahaha!!!! Well, Mother Nature and Mr. Weather did NOT cooperate with temps back to abour 20°F and a gusting breeze. Too cold. We joined for a coffee chat at the Boathouse with some of the birding club and Audubon Society people and finally did the beginning of the repeat ride. Due to the cold and wind we cancelled it again for next week. Come back warmth.........

February 21, 1999, Sunday: Finally, a reasonably unfrozen day for a cool ride. About 45 stalwarts finally braced the WINTER and took off on about 4 different rides. We even had one tandem bicycle duo for a belated Valentine's Ride. "they looked sweet, upon the seats, of a bicycle built for two!!!" Now, isn't that exactly what we need...a tandem Valentine's Day Ride, YES!!! Our CPBC Ride made it to the CLOISTERS and back with under an hour time. Wholly, a great bicycle day.

February 28, 1999, Sunday: Not overly cold with a little wind, but the rains came. RAINED OUT!!!
