Comments
The above two titles signify the same album. The King Biscuit Flower Hour radio show recorded a concert with DP in Springfield on 26 January 1976. This was later tampered with and eventually deemed unsuitable for release. Thus a second concert was recorded at Long Beach Arena on 27 February 1976, which constitutes the bulk of this CD - some bits from the Springfield gig were saved and added as bonus tracks. The European & US releases have different packages, track lists & titles, the former is called Deep Purple: On the Wings of a Russian Foxbat, while the latter is called King Biscuit Flower Hour Presents: Deep Purple in Concert. They might also be mixed differently. The sleeve notes on the US release are written by Bruce Pilato and contain excerpts from some Glenn Hughes interview, while the European sleeve notes are written by Simon Robinson. Furtermore, the back cover of the European release states that "Not Fade Away" is included in "Highway Star (version 2)" [track 14] while the booklet says it ain't. The booklet is correct. Also, the US and European releases don't agree on which tracks are bonus tracks - see below.
