Goodrich Castle
For over 30 years, Lori and her family believed that their Heritage was Pennsylvania Dutch. It was not until the death of her aunt that she discovered her family actually was from England, and that they once owned a castle.
Situated on a high spur overlooking the scenic river of Wye, this pink sandstone castle was built in the mid-12th century to command the river crossings. Not until the Civil War did Goodrich meet its match,'Roaring Meg', a Cromwellian cannon that fired 200 pound balls. After four and a half months Meg finally pummelled the castle into submission.
