The DragonSlayer
Have you e'er heard the tale
Of a six-year-old,
Who went one day
And slew a dragon bold?
This dragon was huge!
The size of a barn,
And the people all feared
He would cause them harm.
So they sent out a notice,
It went far and wide,
To any who'd slay him,
And bring back his hide.
One day dawned bright,
And the dragon sat
Upon his hoarde,
Resting his fat.
When along came our hero,
And boy, what a sight!
Ready to begin,
Quite the furious fight.
The dragon tried
To contain a smirk,
This was only a tyke,
Just some little twerp!
The small child stepped forward,
And the dragon's mouth twitched,
The boy's clothes were too big,
And he acted bewitched.
The small child stepped forward,
Trying to look brave,
But he tripped on his cape,
And met the floor of the cave.
This was too much
For the poor ole dragon,
He held his sides
And doubled over, laughing!
The tyke stood up,
And with a pout, he cried,
"Mithter Dragon, I'm gonna,
Kick you down thith Mountainside!"
The dragon laughed and laughed,
'Till his sides were sore,
Then he glanced at the boy,
And laughed some more.
In fact, the dragon,
Fell to the floor,
He was laughing so hard,
He could stand it no more.
The child looked puzzled,
as the dragon kept snorting,
"You're killing me!" The beast
Chuckled, chortling.
Then, in the midst,
Of the dragon's giggling,
He suddenly began choking,
But he was eating nothing!
He groaned and he kicked,
at an invisible foe,
then shuddered and lay still,
Didn't even twitch a toe.
The child watched him,
For just one minute more,
Then ran down the hill,
To the town from before.
"I slew him!" He cried,
"I killed that ole' dragon."
"And if you don't believe me,
"Here, I stole his talon!"
The people looked over the claw,
And they did belive,
But how he had done it,
They couldn't percieve.
They asked him to tell them,
All that had befell,
The boy said, "He died laughing,
That's all I will tell."
