FIRST RECORD YOU BOUGHT?
"Probably something by Dr. Hook. I used to see one of their albums lying around my motherīs house, and it got me exited how disco and country music and drug music interacted. They were one of the first bands I was really into when I was about 10 years old."
LAST RECORD YOU BOUGHT?
"The new L7 album "The Beauty Process". I like all their other albums, but Iīm really fond of the new one - I think itīs their best yet. Iīm listening to it non-stop at the moment."
FAVOURITE ALBUM SLEEVE?
"Iron Maidenīs "Peice of Mind". I always liked Eddie: I thought he was cool, and when I was growing up he really symolised heavy metal to me. The symbol of Eddie was probably as important as any song in getting me into heavy metal music.
"And "Peice of ind" was the record which probably stands out from my childhood. Derek Riggs is such a cool artist."
RECORD YOUīD PUT ON BEFORE A NIGHT ON THE RAZZ?
"S.O.Dīs "Speak English or Die". Stormtroopers of Death! Thatīs a record I wished I played on. I bought it when it first came out and itīs one of my favourite records - really heavy, fast and funny."
FAVOURITE DANCE ALBUM?
"Well, I donīt know if you count this as dance music, but itīs the very first Bee Gee record was cool. Itīs more of a housy, folky. Manchester kind of sound thing. Thatīs always been a big influence on me."
MOST EMBARRASSING RECORD IN YOUR COLLECTION?
"ours, "Antichrist Superstar". No, really..."
RECORD WHICH CHANGED YOUR LIFE?
""Antichrist Superstar" again. The process of recording this record and everything that has happend since changed my life drastically, but definitely to the better.
"Before that it would be "Number of The Beast" by Iron Maiden, the first great heavy metal record I heard."
RECORD YOUīD LOVE TO PLAY ON?
"One of the early Pink Floyd albums - maybe "Piper at the Gates of Dawn". I like teh Syd Barret (original Pink Floyd vocalist/guitarist) did when he was in the band, and I like th Syd Barret solo stuff that Dave Gilmour produced.
"Pink Floyd are very inspiring to me, even up to today when theyīve managed to sustain their career. I only got to see them recently, but Iīd really love to have seen them play at their peak."
RECORD YOUīD RECOMMEND TO A KERRANG! READER?
"That Stormtroopers Of Death album, "Speak English or Die" again. It kinda blended punk and heavy metal, and Billy Milanoīs lyrics are really hilarious. You havenīt heard punk rock till youīve heard that"
Words by Paul Brannigan at "Kerrang!".
