Day 6
Sunday February 28, 2021
I got up early today and headed downtown. I was down there by 9:30am. Yahtzee Mike arrived yesterday. The plan today is to get some play in at Binion's and Four Queens. I have offers from both places for 3 nights, $75 food, $400 free play and and additional $10 free play for every 100 points up to $100. Dee has the same offers.
I started off at Four Queens with Jacks or Better for pennies. It's short pay but a pretty smooth ride. Things were OK but not great despite hitting three royals. While we were playing my friend Jim came by and we all chatted for a while. With a good chunk of my play done for the day I was only down $147. We took a lunch break at Magnolia's Veranda. I got my usual bowl of gumbo and the open faced turkey. Everything was good and Mike covered the tab with the food credit he got with his room. Thanks for lunch Mike.
After lunch I was back at the machines. This time the play was on single line jacks or better for halves. Great session never up or down more than $100 or so. The real killer of the day was hitting aces THREE times and one time they were dealt. Once I had all of the action through I was up $125 for a net loss of $22 on the day. I stopped off at the players club to have my additional $100 added to my account.
I had my play done for the day at Four Queens so took a walk up and down Fremont Street popping into each casino and trying some penny slots. I got whacked doing this today and got little play in for my troubles.
Next up was Binion's. I had the identical offer I had at Four Queens. The game of choice here was 8/5 bonus for dollars. Mike came over to hang out for a while while I plugged along. Things were as smooth as could be thanks to some well timed quads. Mike left to go back to Four Queens to get more play in there. I was hitting enough quads to stay alive but it was trips that really kept me going. I got dealt trips frequently which really helped me hover.
I had most of the play done so sent Mike a text so we could go eat dinner at Whiskey Licker Up. When he arrived I was only down $115. I stopped by the players club to get my bonus $100 free play added to my account.
We went upstairs and it was pretty busy. I put my name on the list and the hostess said it would be about 30 minutes. I figured we should go back and play more. This worked out really well when I started hitting quads. One highlight was hitting quad 7's on a 2 card hold and then getting dealt quad 8's on the very next hand. I was repeatedly dealt trip aces but of course never connected. I was also dealt 4 to a royal twice but came up empty. The highlight of the day and probably of the trip came holding 3 cards to the royal. It filled in for my first ever royal at Binion's and my first dollar royal in many years (I hit a $2 royal about 15 months ago).
While waiting for the hand pay and paperwork I got a call that the table was ready. Of course it was. Mike went up to claim it while I waited for my 4 grand. While I was waiting Jim swung by to see the big win still on the screen.
Once I was upstairs I ordered a cheeseburger with potato chips. The burger was a good size and tasty. The prices up here are also pretty reasonable. I used comps to cover the cost.
Mike went back to the Four Queens and I returned to the machines at Binion's. It was smooth sailing to get the play done and I was up about $50 when I was all done. The only killer of the play was that none of my quads were of the bonus variety.
It was time to run the free play through the machines. Based on the royal I stayed on dollars. I ran the $900 free play through and turned it into $1000 cash thanks to a bunch of flushes and back to back dealt full houses on the last two hands.
All in all it was a really good day at Binion's with over $5,000 in wins.
With everything done at Binion's I went back over to the Four Queens and met up with Mike again. The only thing left for me to do is run my free play through. I chose dollars again and again it was smooth. No quads but a bunch of full houses kept things level. Like at Binion's I turned the $900 free play into $1000 cash.
We were both beat so Mike went up to his room and I came back to Caesars.
When I came back to Caesars I had to wind down after the exciting day and then went to bed. What a day!
Total win/loss for the day + $5,640
