3. INTRODUCTION
-----------------

The Miotian Chronicles is based on a comic series that has been in the works for over
4 years. It currently contains 26 episodes and two subseries. The sister to this comic is
the Althenian Chronicles, and is still in its early development. The series was inspired by
a good friend of mine, Elena Mailander, who's comics inspired me to take a swing at more
high quality art.
The Miotian Chronicles began as a simple comic with a simple story (much of the art was
very simple too). As I progressed towards the end of the first series, I began to develop
an extremely intricate plot. Unfortunately, this aroused some conflict over parts of the
story, and many loose ends were left behind. The creation of this game is meant to present
the story from the comic while tying up loose ends.
Parody is the key to the Miotian Chronicles, and I try to make fun of anything I can.
I'm hoping that with this RPG I can still convey the same humor as I did through my
surprisingly popular (well, around town that is) comic. Watch out for countless parodies of
Final Fantasy, Lord of the Rings, Discworld, Breath of Fire, Dragonlance, Star Wars, Zelda,
and countless other series of games, books, movies, and anime. To enjoy the Miotian
Chronicles to the fullest extent, I recommend that you try to learn as much as you worldly
can about the aforementioned series. For quick reference, check the References section.
Please, any and all comments, criticism, and witty remarks are accepted with great
fervor! Contact me if you have anything to say about the Miotian Chronicles project, as it
is very important to me. Without further ado, I present to you the RPG version of Miotian
Chronicles.

4. QUICK GUIDE
----------------

This quick guide is a simple explanation for those who don't want to read the
walkthrough. It is important to make sure you know a few things before you start, so that
you will get more out of the game.

1. A quiet tone will play when you enter an area with a secret item. Make sure you get all
the secret items in an area. Items may appear in the same location as a previous item
later in the game, so if you want to be a perfectionist, make sure you check everything
    several times through the game.

2. Talk to everyone many times until they say nothing new. After a while, talk to them
    again for a new response.

3. Check everything, as anything could hold an item or change a switch later on.

If you follow these three guidelines, you will get a lot more out of the game. If
someone talks about someone you don't recognize, either you haven't talked to everyone yet
or you can find info about that person in the REFERENCES section. Note that people move
around as the game progresses, so don't expect to find someone right away.

5. FEATURES
-------------

This game features countless hours of gameplay, as well as FMV movies. Many TileSets
were hand-edited by me to fit the needs of this unique RPG. This game also has numerous
side-quests that add to the gaming experience, as well as a treasure trove of parodies. The
cities are large and complete, almost too many placesto explore. It also includes Monsters,
CharSets, Panoramas, Pictures, and FaceSets I made entirely by myself.
Every character you meet has a FaceSet on it and have unique names. Numerous little
secrets and one-time only events make the game's replay value much greater.
Besides the preceeding, this game includes countless music tracks from many games,
well-known movies, cartoons, and anime.

10. WALKTHROUGH
----------------

I. ALEXANDRIA

   Suggested Level: 1

Enemies: Terra (Human), Terra (Esper), Kefka (Boss)

   Items:
100 Gil x1 (In a suit of armor in the Beginner's House)
Potion x1 (in the jar at the bottom of the stairs below Cyan's House)
Tonic x1 (in the barrel on the far top right when you go from the statue
through the path on the right)
Tonic x4 (In Cyan's house in the apple box)
Berries x1 (In the top left tree on the screen with the Insomniac)
Remedy x1 (in the jar above the second house on the left on the screen
                              where Stiltzkin's Shop is)
Antidote x1 (In a basket above the third house on the left on the screen
                              where Stiltzkin's Shop is)
Phoenix Down x1 (Inside the Chocobo Stable, check the pile of wood in the
                              bottom right corner)
Phoenix Down x1 (In a barrel below where Marle is standing)
Insomniac x1 (In a lone barrel below and to the left of the map with the
                              Bell Tower)
Power Glove x1 (In the foodstuffs above the barrels near the waterfront on the
                              Bell Tower area)
Kefka's Hairdo x1 (Defeat Kefka, talk to Loira 8 times to start the battle)

   Rare Items:
Tissue x1 (On a bookshelf in Laurette's House)
Chiriko Doll x1 (Inside Jeremiah's House under the staircase, stand above the
kumquats and face right, then press the OK key)

   Things to do:
Check the statue in the town square
     Get all the items
     Talk to everyone
Try to enter the rear of Stiltzkin's Shop
Talk to Quale in the bar and have some Roo Beer
     Enter the Sewers

You were invited over to Stiltzkin's Shop to take a look at a strange book he found,
so mosey on over. Before you go anywhere, however, check the inscription on the Town Square
statue. This will be important later in the game. You must check it before Stiltzkin joins
your party.
Talk to everyone until they don't say anything else, and check every object. Many
people in this game will say more than one thing, and every object will say something. You
will miss a lot of the game's best comments if you don't take the time to talk to everyone
multiple times at different points in the game. Note that people move around as the game
progresses, or as you talk to certain other people. Make sure you pick up all the available
items along the way. I don't suggest you don't talk to Loira yet, because the battle with
Kefka is still too hard for now.
You MUST get the Chiriko Doll now or else it will become very hard to get later! Don't
miss this item while you have the opportunity!
Check out the Beginner's House now, if not later with Stiltzkin. If you complete all
of the training requirements, Gau will allow you to take on the Training Dungeon, with the
reward being very valuable! See the Secrets section for more info.
When you are finished, go into Stiltzkin's Shop and try to enter through the door on
the left. Exit Stiltzkin's Shop, and Kupo will comment about going through the Sewers.
Head to the tavern and try to get behind the counter. Quale will get mad at you, and Kupo
will notice that there is a staircase that leads down, possibly to the sewers. Talk to
Quale, and take up his offer for some Roo Beer. Quale will realize that he's almost out and
finish it all by himself. Now you can sneak through the Cellar and into the Sewers!

II. SEWERS

   Suggested Level: 1

Enemies: Were-Rat, Slime, Aspik, Untitled Spawn (Boss)

   Items:
Tonic x2 (In the top right barrel in the Cellar)
Tent x1 (In the treasure chest near the beginning of the sewers)
Phoenix Down x2 (At the end of the warp that doesn't lead to a warp)

   Rare Items:
Chronicles I x1 (In the jar outside of Selucca's House, reach it through a
                              staircase in the sewers)
Chronicles II x1 (In the second to last bookshelf in the middle in Selucca's
House, reach it through a staircase in the sewers)
Untitled Title x1 (After beating Untitled Spawn)

   Things to Do:
     Get All the Items
Get a Few Tonics Just in Case
     Level Up to Lv. 4
     Enter the Waterways
Pick Up the First Two Issues of the Miotian Chronicles
     Reach Stiltzkin's House
     Beat Untitled Spawn

The Alexandrian Sewers are a maze of warps and waterways. You should have enough
Tonics now so you don't have to worry, but you may have to go back to the Inn to buy more
later. Here is a cheater's guide to getting through the Sewers:

Enter the first warp, then choose the bottom warp.
Get the Tent out of the treasure chest, and return through the warp.
This time, take the upper warp, then go to the only other warp. This area will be
       designated A.
Enter the warp directly to the right of you, then take the warp to the southwest of
       you.
Get the two Phoenix Downs out of the treasure chest, then take the only warp back to
       the entrance.
Return to area A, then take the warp to the northeast of you. Enter the only other
       warp in this area.
Follow the path until you reach the save point.

Make sure you have good health before continuing. You will want your Level to be at
about 4 before you finish the dungeon, and it would be wise to bring along a few Tonics,
just in case. Make sure you're MP is full. When you are ready, continue on.

Enter the water through the dock below, and walk down until you can no longer walk
       down.
Go left and get onto land through the dock, then enter the warp. Now go up the stairs.
Check the middle bookshelf to find Chronicles II, then go outside and check the jar for
       Chronicles I.
Return to the Sewers, and get back into the water. Walk right along the bottom wall,
       then turn up.
Once you're through the gate, head up and around the piece of land. Follow the wall,
       but don't enter the gates.
Enter the third gate down, and follow the water until you reach another dock. Get up
       on the land.
The bottom warp will take you back to the entrance, should you need to. Take the top
warp, which will lead to another warp which leads to another dock. Get in the water.
Walk left in the water until you reach yet another dock. Get on the land, and enter
the warp there. Go up the stairs.

Now you are inside Stiltzkin's Shop. Go up the stairs and head towards Stiltzkin.
Prepare yourself for a tough fight with Untitled Spawn! For help on beating this boss,
check the Monsters section.

III. ALEXANDRIA (AFTER GETTING STILTZKIN)

Suggested Level: 6 (Kupo), 5 (Stiltzkin)

   Enemies: Kefka (Boss)

   Items:
Power Tab x1 (In a box in Stiltzkin's Shop)
Magic Tab x1 (In the same basket where you found the Antidote)
HP Capsule x1 (In the jar to the right of Relm)
Pearl Shard x1 (In one of the apple boxes in the Cellar)
Ether x1 (In the barrel above Loira)
Striped Shirt x1 (In a chest in the Chocobo Family House after leaving
                              Alexandria)
Kefka's Hairdo x1 (Defeat Kefka, talk to Loira 8 times to start the battle)

   Rare Items:
Magic Key x1 (In the well off the coast of the west bank)

   Things to Do:
     Get the Pearl Shard
Get all of the new items
Check Up Leads About the Secret Developer's Room
Talk to Chocobo Billy about a job
Talk to Loira and Battle Kefka for Kefka's Hairdo
     Leave Alexandria

The door that was previously locked should now be unlocked. Before you leave
Stiltzkin's Shop, make sure you pick up the Power Tab that has recently appeared in a box
downstairs.
After beating Untitled Spawn, a few new items will pop up. One of them, the Pearl
Shard for Stiltzkin, is in the Cellar at the Tavern. However, you cannot reach the Cellar
through the Tavern anymore. It is a good idea to go through the Sewers once again to get
the Pearl Shard, as this is the only way for Stiltzkin to learn Pearl.
Make sure to pick up the other items that have appeared since the boss battle, then
head to the Statue and begin talking to Loira. Eventually, a long event will ensue, at the
end of which you fight Kefka. Check the Monsters section for help. Kefka is a tough boss,
and you will need everything you can get. You must fight Kefka before you leave Alexandria,
or you will never have the chance again for the rest of the game! GET THE ETHER IN THE
BARREL ABOVE LOIRA. This is very important if you want Stiltzkin's Pearl to last longer in
the battle. Loira will give you another one if you use it, so feel free to.
Talk to everyone again. They will say new stuff, and you will get more laughs out of
the game if you do.
When you are done with everything you need in Alexandria, leave through the south gate.
After the event, return to Alexandria and you will find the Chocobo Family's House next to
the Chocobo Stable unlocked. Enter and talk to Chocobo Billy, and you will suggest that he
fix the inscription on the statue. Make sure you do this before going to the Library of
Ancients. Make sure to pick up the Striped Shirt in the chest upstairs.

II. BOSS ENEMIES

Name: Untitled Spawn (Stiltzkin's Shop)
HP: 650
MP: 400
Strength: 45
Defense: 10
Magic: 10
Agility: 22
EXP: 100
Gil: 300
Items Dropped: Tent
Techniques: Poison, Electric Shock
Weakness: N/A
Null: N/A
Strategy: Untitled Spawn is a very tough first boss. You should level up Kupo to at
least Lv. 4 so that he can learn Cure. Otherwise, make sure to bring a LOT
of Tonics into the battle. Make sure you're MP is at full if you have Cure.
you will need Tonics if you do have cure, as well. Don't waste too much
money buying Phoenix Downs, but use the ones you get from treasure chests.
Keep both Kupo and Stiltzkin's HP above about 35, because Untitled Spawn's
Electric Shock will deal about as much to both party members. Poison may
not be a status effect that you have too much time to spend curing, but keep
in mind that you must account for an extra 2 HP damage every turn.

Name: Kefka (Alexandria Statue)
HP: 700
MP: 600
Strength: 50
Defense: 20
Magic: 20
Agility: 35
EXP: 0
Gil: 0
Items Dropped: Kefka's Hairdo
Techniques: Flame Field, Accumulate Power, Sleep
Weakness: N/A
Null: N/A
Strategy: Kefka is quite a tough boss. His Flame Field attack is not as annoying as
his physical attacks and Sleep spell, both of which deal major damage to one
party member. Keep your HP very high, because he can surprise you by
either getting a critical hit or putting a character to sleep, then knocking
them out. Do not hesitate to use any Phoenix Downs you may have. To make
this fight a bit easier, get the Pearl Shard to teach Stiltzkin Pearl and
level up until Kupo learns Paralysis. Use the Ether you get in the barrel
above Loira and use it, because she will replace it if you use it in the
fight. It's nice to have Pearl causing about 37-40 damage a turn to Kefka,
even if it doesn't last forever. Make sure you use the Insomniac Relic you
get earlier in the game. You will need maybe 10 Tonics, definitely more if
you use Kupo's Paralysis a lot. When you beat Kefka, he will run away,
                leaving behind his hairdo.

Developer's Room (Alexandria)

After beating the first Untitled Spawn, go to Cyan's house and check his diary. Then
check the motorcycle catalog on his table, and talk to Cyan. He will blabber about a secret
hidden room somewhere in Alexandria. (note: If you find a DVD somewhere in Alexandria
before you talk to Cyan, Kupo will make a comment as he leaves.)
Next, go to Bartz in the Beginner's House and complete his excersize (Talking to him
several times), if you haven't already. After Bartz talks about the northwest house, exit
the Beginner's House and go left through the narrow and almost unnoticable path. Check the
door, and return to Bartz.
Bartz will tell you that you need a key, so go one screen down from the Beginner's
House screen to where the barrels are. Walk around until you can see the little patch of
green. Now walk down into the water maze. For your convenience, here is a map of the maze.
Sorry, it's not that great. (Note: If you by any chance see the word "POOP" every time you
look at the map, I feel sorry for you.)
