Soap Opera Magazine - June 1, 1993

In order, layer the following ingredients into a pan, or casserole dish:
     1 head of lettuce, finely shredded
     4-6 green onions, chopped
     2 cans chopped water chestnuts
     4-5 stalks of celery, chopped
     1 10-oz. pkg. of frozen peas
Slather one cup of cold-pressed mayonnaise (available at most health food stores), or Miracle Whip, on top of peas to seal in vegetables.  Sprinkle teaspoon of sugar on top of mayonnaise.  Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.  The next day, garnish mixture with:
     8 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
     3 hard-boiled eggs, sliced
     1 pkg. of shredded cheddar cheese
Toss each individual serving.
