The Best Of Daytime TV - March 1987 There's Nothing Wicked About These Devoted Stepmoms.... "Mom's the word backstage at Young & Restless these days - especially when Saturday and Sunday roll around. That's when five of Genoa City's sultriest starlets toss aside their make-up bags, wave goodbye to their hair-stylists and slip into a favourite pair of jeans to play stepmom to their favourite guys' kids. "We even started our own club. We call ourselves 'Weekend Mothers,' " laughs leader-of-the pack Tracey Bregman (Lauren). "Every now and then we get together to talk about the highs and lows of being a part-time stepmother." But who's got the best advice for all these Y&R ladies? |

Melody Thomas, of course. She's had great training for being a stepparent - her own experience at motherhood. So when Melody married Y&R producer Ed Scott, she found it easy warming up to his 13-year-old daughter Jennifer. "When I first had my little girl, Alix, I was the typical nervous mother," says Melody. "But now it all seems to come naturally to me. Having Alix definitely made it easier for me to develop a relationship with Jennifer. We warmed up to each other right away. We're very close. Sometimes we'll just sit together, talk, and then burst out into one of our giggling fits. We'll laugh and laugh for hours. Jennifer and Alix get along well too. Jennifer's a real big sister to Alix. The girls, Ed and I are always going off on vacations. A while back we went to Captiva, an island off Florida. Who knows where we'll go next? We're always doing things together. We're a real family." |
