Since I'm not in the mood to go search out a free guestbook service, would you kindly send emails to jrbbopp@hotmail.com. Thanks!

Hi there. As of January 10, 2004, I've decided to stop updating this site. I got sick of the ads. So, my good friend Paul has generously provided me with webspace. I'm currently in the process of transferring everything from here to there. You can visit the new location at: http://www.21stcenturyfogey.com/cammury/index.htm. This site won't probably ever be taken down, but there won't be anything new. Thanks! John

Tuesday, January 6, 2004: Things Are Getting Better All the Time

The moving in is next to complete! Today Mom had a day off work, so she and I rented a U-Haul and got all my remaining shit from my house and moved it into the apartment. Aside from having to unpack a few tote bags, my room is now my own. The big double bed is in (yay!), and I have new furniture to put all my junk on, so I'm feeling much better.

There is a dark cloud still on the horizon: the job hunt. Bank of America called yesterday, and I'm going in to take the teller test tomorrow. But, even if I pass the test (which I'm sure I will), it'll still be a month before the training classes begin, so I can't even start working for two more weeks. And, the training class takes a whole week, which means I'll miss class for it as well. Not looking so hot. Also looking not so hot is the Wells Fargo, as they haven't even called me back yet. Feeling down about this, but the apartment's being completed is making me happy. Also, Janet called and I'm working Saturday for sure, probably Friday, and maybe even Thursday. Told Janet I needed every cent, and she understood. So glad at just the prospect of having an income!!!! Wish me luck.

The other cool thing was last night, hanging out at Fiona's and Aurora's with Shar, Fiona's boyfriend, and the Bed Molester (ask Fiona), playing Scrabble (I kicked major major ass--got a bingo on the first try. Aurora put down TIN, and I put RELATIO on top of it, not only for all the points under "relation" but also the 50 bonus points for using up all 7 letters. It was nifty, and I nice sequel to Shar's kicking major ass the other night at Monopoly (I have never seen anyone land on Free Parking four times before like that. Not even Fiona's, Aurora's and my merging into one team could salvage the game from her!) So, good night, and extremely interesting conversations about cannibalism (lotsa laffs) and those damn annoying yappy dogs as an Olympic sport ("And now--Jai Alai Chihuahuas!). Good times. Okay, Fiona's getting mad that I'm using up all her computer time. I originally came just to pick up the cell phone! Sheesh. 10:12pm

Friday, January 2, 2004: The weather outside is frightful...

First news, the job hunt is off to a great start. Started off at Wells Fargo on Plumb Ln, and Gayle there thought I'd be great either as a teller or in the back room on customer service. And, even better, starting rate for tellers is $9, in the back room, $10. Which means I'm going to get the kind of money I want. The only hitch is that the backroom job is full time, which means I'll rake in the dough and have no free time whatsoever. We'll see. Then went to Bank of America, and got a good response as well. They also loved me at Westaff, and she was kind enough to understand that Westaff is my backup. Feeling so much better than I was this morning, I even went to the store. I'm feeling human again, laying down roots. I haven't felt this way since early December, when I stopped buying groceries at Consum to eat through what I had left.

In other news, got back from Davis last night around 11. This was quite a trip. Spent New Year's Eve partying with Roy, a friend of his, and all their friends. Met some great people and it was nice to ring in the New Year with people who actually like doing it. And of course, got to spend a two-day period with Roy and drink champagne and go to a great restaurant in Sacramento. All in all, had a great time. Roy even cooked me French toast (yippee).

So, the feeling more and more like a normal person, and revelling in the snow that's falling (despite it's having held me up both ways over the Sierra. I'll tell you now--Davis to Reno is normally just over two hours. I took five. Spent a good hour just sitting there, reading! And on the way over, I got stuck behind trucks on a one-lane road (50 through the mountains), so now my car is no longer blue). It's been a great week. 5:09pm

You might want to check out Panicware.com to download a Pop-Up Stopper to get rid of those damned ads. Just if you want....
I'd copyright the site, but who's reading it to copy it??
