Day 14

This morning we packed up and hit Cafe Aquarius for one last breakfast. Dee got the Denver omelet and I got the pancakes with bacon. The food was good today and the service was better than it's been in the past few days.

We checked out of the Aquarius and shot over to Arizona to get gas where it's 50 cents cheaper than it is over here in Laughlin. After gassing up it was back up to the Laundromat to do a quick load of laundry before driving back up to Las Vegas. The ride was a bit windy at times but not a bad trip. We stopped off in Searchlight for one purchase. That purchase being Chocodiles (for the most part a chocolate covered Twinkie). We used to have them where I live but we don't have them anymore. Dee also grabbed a coffee and snack it was back on the road. We arrived in downtown Las Vegas at Main Street Station at about 3pm. Check in here is always very fast and today it was quick even though there were a few people in front of us. We'll be staying here for our final 5 nights on a room offer I got in the mail and an additional night through a host. My offer was for 4 nights, free food and $75 in free play. The only issue here was the room that was blocked for us wasn't ready yet. The girl at the front desk called housekeeping and said the room would be done by 4pm. Instead of checking the bags with the bellman we just sat on the benches in the lobby until the room was done.

We were assigned room 1101 and I believe we've actually had this room before in the past. It has a king bed, nightstands, table with 2 armchairs, wall unit with dresser and TV, work desk and refrigerator. The bathroom is small with the sink outside and the toilet and tub on the inside. We've got a view of downtown and the strip.

Since this is our last stop we actually unpacked everything to get settled in. This makes things easier to pack up for the trip home in a few days.

We hit the Market Street Cafe over at the California for dinner. We were surprised to see they did a full renovation of the place and it looked good. I got my usual hot turkey sandwich here and Dee got Spaghetti. The food here is always good and the service quick as well. We topped off dinner with blueberry pie and vanilla ice cream.

Next up was to hit the casino. We played some triple play video poker with a rough start. Keeping with the theme Dee got killed dropping 3 bills into the machine. I was in for 2 bills but hovering close to even from hitting a bunch of quads. After Dee dropped her third bill I had her load my free play and she had a huge comeback popping a few quads and getting dealt winners. At one point she was actually up for the session but finished down $100 in total for her session. I finished even which I was happy with but I didn't think the results were that good considering I had hit aces, a straight flush and multiple bonus quads. I'm still trying to figure out why we're getting killed the way we are.

We took a break up in the room for a while and Dee made out some post cards. I laughed knowing they couldn't go out until Monday and we'd be home Wednesday night. After our break we hit he casino again for the video poker session from hell. We played the same triple play game and I fed in bills one after another. In about 45 minutes I had dumped $300 already and Dee was on her second bill. She didn't hit any quads and I hit only three the whole mini session. In under an hour we had dropped another $500 and were officially down for the trip. I was a bit discouraged by this especially after being up so much.

For a late night snack we went to the snack bar over at the California. We both got a bowl of Saimen noodles. It's noodles, some pink and white shit, pork, and broth. It's very tasty except for those pink and white things. It wasn't that late yet only being about 11:30 but after getting killed in the casino we thought it was a good time give up for the day now being down for the trip.
