Day 5 Thursday July 29, 2004
Dining:
This afternoon I hit the Hilton buffet with one of the free coupons they gave me with the room package. I have heard many reports that this buffet isn’t very good and I’d agree with those reports. Personally I thought it sucked. It had a very limited selection and most of the foods I tried were very bland (and this is coming from a guy that likes bland foods, just not this bland) and dried out. It’s ok for a free lunch but do yourself a favor and don’t make a special trip here to try it.
For dinner I met Anne, her family, and their friend David at a local restaurant called Viva Mercado. It’s a Mexican place and I’m not a big fan of Mexican but I can handle a little bit of it. The food was actually pretty good. Then Anne set me up and told the waiter it was my birthday. Of course it wasn’t really my birthday since that’s not until Christmas. A bunch of guys came over and sang happy birthday to me and put a stupid sombrero on my head. You may recall she pulled this same stunt on me at Benihana a while back. I think it’s time for Anne to get a new joke to pull on me. Of course Anne needs to keep in mind that paybacks are a bitch and I WILL get her!
Gaming:
After lunch I hit the Loose Deuces machines back in the sportsbook again. The session started off with the machine dealing me a natural straight flush. For some reason it seems like I always get these big dealt hands playing deuces. If that wasn’t bad enough a few hands later it deals me quad 5’s for a whopping 20 coins. The session was moving along fine and I was pretty much keeping even. Then I was dealt 3 deuces and BAM! The 4th one popped up. This was the first time I ever hit ducks on loose deuces for $625. Shortly after hitting the deuces I was dealt 3 deuces again. Could lightning strike twice in one session? Hell yeah it could. Of course it didn’t though. I played a little longer and cashed out the session with a $500 win.
After dinner I was heading back to the Hilton but couldn’t get into the left lane on Flamingo to head over so I went right and hit the Hard Rock. I hit the craps table here. Things were choppy for the most part but not terrible. The swings started getting bad but after 3-4 bad runs, a few good shooters would come around. I hit my new record at this table tonight for total time played. After over 10 non-stop hours of action I cashed out with a $400 win. I was having a really good time tonight totally lost track of time until I saw sunlight start shine through the windows. That’s when I knew it was time to go!
Total win/loss for the day $1000
Total comps for the day $20
