Day 3 Sunday July 11, 2004
Dining:
Met up with Rich and Dawn at about noon and we hit the buffet here at Main Street Station. It was a combination of breakfast items and lunch. I pretty much stuck with breakfast and tried a few Chinese food items. For some reason the fried rice didn’t taste right but the fried wontons were very good. I also had some waffles, corned beef hash and a heaping pile of bacon. I also tried some desserts and the slice of cake I had was stale like it was sitting around all day and the blueberry pie was pretty weak too.
For dinner we went to the Pullman Grill. You may recall last time I was here the meal wasn’t that great. Tonight I wanted to give the place another chance. I ordered the filet mignon with a baked potato and the soup of the day which was cream of mushroom. I don’t like mushrooms but I like the base of the soup so just avoid the mushrooms. The soup was much better tonight than it was last time and the steak was pretty good although it came medium or medium well and I ordered it medium rare. Not a big deal and I’m glad the meal was better this time than it was back in the spring.
After dinner we didn’t gamble any more tonight so we just hung out at the bar with Bob the bartender and had a few drinks. The Bostons had to get up early for their flight home tomorrow so we called it a night at 1am.
Gaming:
Not wanting to play much at MSS today the 3 of us decided we’d go for a drive. Rich and Dawn recently moved and wanted to change their address at a few casinos so they could start getting their mailings again. One of those stops was Terrible’s and using the LVA POV coupon I got a funbook and a T-shirt. I also played a $10 match play on the blackjack tables. I was dealt a 14 against a dealer 7. I hit my hand and got 4 for a total of 18. The dealer flipped over another 7 or a 14 and then busted it out with an 8 to give me a $20 win!
After we ran around we went up to the Cannery. While we were looking for something to play I saw a $1 machine that had 25 cents on the meter. I went over to cash it out but the game was in the middle of a hand because there was 1 coin bet. I played the 1 hand and got a pair of aces and cashed out $1.25! All of the deuces machines were packed so we played some 8/5 bonus. I hit quad 8’s on my 4th hand and cashed in the POV coupon for a 50-coin bonus. From here I was hitting quads every 10 minutes or so. In the hour and a half we played I hit 10 quads one being aces and a straight flush. I finished the session up over $200.
On the way out the door I stopped at the craps table to play the $10 match play from the POV. I bet it on the pass line. The point established was 8 so I took out $20 and took odds. Two rolls later the shooter sevened out and I lost. It was still a pretty good visit to the Cannery though. I’ll be spending more time up here later in the week to get in on their 5X points deal.
Total win/loss for the day $200
Total comps for the day $118
