Day 5
July 2, 2008

Unfortunately it was time to move again. We packed up our stuff and headed off to check out. Since everything was comped upfront there was no charge on departure and it was onward to get the car.

Once we checked out of Planet Hollywood we stopped off at the Dollar store and the Galleria Mall on Sunset for a few items then headed to Fiesta Henderson for lunch. By now most people know I’m a big fan of the Feel Good Soup they offer in their coffee shop and as of last trip, Dee is a big fan of it as well and we’ve been looking forward to having a bowl of it for weeks now! While we had a few coupons we could have used we opted to just eat and run and head out. When we sat down I was greeted by a new menu and yet another price increase to the soup that’s now 10 bucks.

On the way out of Fiesta Henderson we both had $25 match plays from the POV. Dee used hers on roulette on odd and hit and I used mine on black and hit on the next spin. This was great because even though we are only 2 for 6 on match plays we’re ahead for the trip now.

Today’s move wasn’t to a Las Vegas hotel but to Harrah’s Laughlin. Dee had never been down there before so I thought this trip would be a good opportunity to take her there. She’s also never been to California or Arizona and this would be an opportunity for her to day she was there! The ride to Laughlin is pretty dull and boring but we made the best of it by cranking the tunes on the radio and chatting. Before I knew it we were coming down the mountain into Laughlin. Dee was impressed with the views from up there and snapped a bunch of pictures. When we got to the turn off to head up the mountain to Laughlin I drove past it to the California state line so Dee could actually say she had been to California. We snapped a few pictures at the Welcome to California Sign and the Welcome to Nevada sign and then it was off on the rest of the trip to Laughlin.

When we arrived at the hotel I used the self parking area initially. Usually I use the valet here. We checked in at the diamond check in area. I booked 2 comped nights in a central tower premium room back in May on the Harrah’s website. They had only one guest in line ahead of me and in minutes we were up to room 21210. This is a king room with a river view (Dee loved that), work table, sitting chairs, wall unit and nightstands. The bathroom is small and basic.

After getting settled into the room it was time for me to give Dee a tour of Laughlin and then over to Arizona for a few items. We shopped for a while over there and then came back to Harrah’s and had a small dinner in the Diamond Lounge. Tonight they offered sandwiches, cheese & crackers, and Navy Bean soup. For dessert all they offered was cookies but they were really good.

When we were done with our meal I got hold of Mike and he and Dana were eating in the Mexican restaurant. We went to see them and decided to meet up at the 50 plays when they were done. I had some decent luck here initially hitting a royal flush early on. This kept me going for a while but a lack of dealt winners on this game is brutal and I ended up feeding in another bill. Mike and Dana joined us and I kept playing. I was drawing enough hands to keep alive but still had a major lack of dealt winners. I was only dealt 4 straights and one full house the whole time I played and drew 4 royals. In the end I finished the session down $95 and I wasn’t very happy about this considering I had hit 4 royals along the way.

At this point I had run over 10k through the machine and it was getting late. Dee had already gone up to bed and Mike was leaving first thing in the morning so we packed it in.

Total win/loss for the day -$100
Total comps for the day $92
