I got up somewhat early in comparison to the last few days to get ready and to pack up. I’ll be moving to the Stardust today for my final 3 days of this trip.
I finally ran into my host here and asked what the deal was with the rooms. We worked it out and she apologized for the confusion. She was nice about it and seemed sincere but the $69/night was a bit much for me compared to my usual rates at other places. Especially since I was comped at 2 other properties during this trip.
I asked her about comping any of the nights and at first she said there was nothing she should do. I mentioned that over 4 days I gave them over $20,000 in action and she looked up my account again. Her and the girl working the desk in the VIP lounge agreed there was 20k in action and I had over 19 hours of time logged in. She comped 1 night for me. Not exactly what I was hoping for. I asked what type of action they were actually looking for and she said they wanted 20k per day for room comps. We had a discussion about requirements at other properties and better hotels and she agreed I was right and that the hosts were having a meeting next week with the higher ups about room comps for slot players. She said she’d let me know what happens through e-mail.
After this bit of aggravation I made my way up to Henderson to pick up my laundry. After a quick stop at Castaways for some chips I made a side trip over to the Hyatt Regency at Lake Las Vegas. This is a really nice place if you’re into just relaxing and golfing. The casino is a waste of time for the most part. It’s no bigger than the hotel check in areas of most hotels on the strip. I played some low limit blackjack and walked out ahead by $40. Maybe this is the way I should play the game. I usually do well with the low bets compared to when I’m green chipping.
From here I went over to pick up my laundry then another quick stop up to the Eldorado in Henderson for more chips. Then it was on to Fiesta Henderson for some late lunch/dinner. I had a coupon I got in the mail for 2 free buffets. Tonight was seafood night, which goes to waste on me since I don’t do seafood. They had shrimp and crab legs and other types of seafood. They also had a fair selection of other foods from Chinese to BBQ. Now, usually I complain that foods are dry from sitting under French fry lights all day but tonight that wasn’t the case. My complaint tonight was that the food I got from every station from seafood to Chinese, to American and Italian was lukewarm at best. Most was actually cold. The quality of the food seems to still be good but I can’t stand eating cold food.
After eating I tried some low limit craps. They have a $1 game with 10X odds here. The first shooter did a great job and had the dice for around 15 minutes. I more than tripled my money on this shooter. I stayed in the game for over an hour and walked away with an extra $50.
It was getting late so I went back down to the Strip and checked in at the Stardust. Check in took a little longer than it should have though. I don’t understand why I can be checked in and on my way to the room in less than 5 minutes after I get to the counter and some people are at the counter for 15 minutes.
I am in room 11024. It’s in the back of the hotel and I have a view of the parking lot and the north strip from Westward Ho all of the way to the Stratosphere. The rooms here are basic and have the standard hotel furniture from the desk and table to the nightstands and TV cabinet/dresser combo.
I finally got settled into the room and rested for a while. A little later on I went over to the Rio and played a small amount. I’ve read their mailings have been really good for minimal amounts of play so I just want to see for myself what actually happens, if anything.
From Rio it was on to the Gold Coast. The main goal was here was to grab some chips and hit some craps tables. Craps was a bust here. I was the only shooter that could actually make a point before sevening out.
After the Gold Coast I went across the street to the Palms. The main plan here was to get something to eat. I went to the Sunrise Café. The service here was horrible especially from a place that is considering itself top notch. I had the steak and eggs late night special. It’s a small NY Strip, breakfast potatoes, 3 eggs, and 2 small pancakes or $4.99.
After I ate I made a small contribution to the FPDW progressives and headed back here to the Stardust.
Total win/loss for the day -$150
Total comps for the day $169
