Honesty Honesty is a virtue in which most of us embrace and or try to live by the best we can, a mannerism that we specialize in passing on to our children. Everyday we face new challenges of some nature that test our honesty and often those challenges are difficult to step around, but we manage somehow to accept the truth of reality and continue on. Saving face for our inner respect can be a task, especially with so many experts of one sort or another that are numerous in our society. These experts enjoy testing our virtues, our honesty, and our self respect. When looking in a mirror we see our selves as the person we have created and that person we feel is unique in some manner, although not entirely perfect in some sense, we feel compelled to proclaim to those around us, that we are conformed to truth and reality, with our honesty fully intact. In the mirror of life, we see a reflection of an image that portrays a person we have known for a long time, and for some, the honesty of that picture is what is lived by, however, a few do not appreciate what they see and do what they can to change their appearance to suite their needs. What is truth, reality and honesty? Does it mean that because we live in a free society we can corrupt our self esteem in order to portray a being that we feel is what we should be all about? Does it mean that we have a right to falsify the dignity of an ancestral blood? Indigenous people, massacred by the hundreds, thousands and millions. Years, decades and centuries, an aboriginal people struggled to maintain their ancestral culture and traditions, ancient customs and belief’s that had been in place for time immemorial, and today, a people march forward professing to belong to a race of people, whose culture and traditions they seemly enjoy tearing apart to suite their own needs, and they utilize a manner of so-called honesty to do so. For some of us, our struggle against the government and society has been for a life time, in honor of our ancestor’s, not just second’s, minutes, or hour’s, but for most of our life we have fought against the corruption bestowed upon our people, and for some of us, we would hope that our children and grand children would ensure that the government and society understood that once we are gone, things will not change that much, that they will continue to try and make their world better and stronger for future generations. Honesty? In today’s society, for many it is a lie. Why? Simple, because today, so many feel that they have an obligation to terrorize a world with their false ideology. An ideology that tears at the heart of ancient customs and belief’s that have been in place for time immemorial. I have never seen so many traditional elder’s and medicine people called liars. I have never seen so many traditional elder’s and medicine people shoved aside, walked upon and abused by a people who think that because when they look in the mirror they see a reflection of an Indian, that they are going to be one. All of our endeavor’s to defend the ancient customs and beliefs, slowly and sadly being changed for profit, political gain, personal gain and for nothing more than to assist and aid the United States Government and Society to continue the assimilation process of the Sovereign Nations. FACT. I seriously doubt that the census account is very accurate. With all due respect, I seriously appreciate the friends of the Sovereign Nations who honestly and sincerely support the Indian World, but I strongly detest those who falsely come before us professing to be....... whatever. THE INDIAN WORLD WILL PREVAIL! Across the valley floors, The wind swept at the peoples paths, Leaving behind traditional lore’s, For the future that told of the past, And the echoes of time, Awaken youthful minds, For the culture of a people would prevail And through the blood of life the story would tell That the Indian world would endure! A governments red, white and blue, Carried through the Indians land, And where the eagles flew Over the forest, dirt and sand, A people’s cry was carried upon the wind, Of torture, beatings, and murder heard within, And the culture of a people would prevail And through the blood of life the story would tell That the Indian world would endure! Elder’s, children, babies and women, The Brave United States army would slay, Hunting down like animals the Indian men, Killing them and leaving where they lay, And America would honor such death and destruction By writing history of it own construction But the culture of a people would prevail And through the blood of life the story would tell That the Indian world would endure! As Indian people we live to die, For in our hearts we hear our people cry, We know no shame in our dying For we have heard our children crying, The voices of the past echoing across the land And there are not many of us left to stand, So when the Indian shall die, No one shall sorrow, no one will cry, But the culture of a people would prevail And through the blood of life the story would tell That the Indian world would endure!
