The
Sounds of Geisha
GEISHA
were formed by Robert Crosbie and Paul Meehan in late 1998. Previously
both had been persuing music individually, Robert in a band called Lotus,
and Paul playing techno music in the San Francisco scene.
They
came together after recognising the talents they both possessed; Robert's
skills in music and arrangement, and
Paul's
engineering and programming knowledge.
They
recorded a few songs together in Paul's home studio, over several months.
Lots of good ideas came out of these sessions, but nothing permanent was
committed to tape. But the first steps were positive.
However,
in autumn of 1999 Paul decided to go solo on a temporary basis, leaving
Robert to continue creating music under the guise of GEISHA. He has written
and produced a large number of tracks, and plans to make a double CD compliation
of all these tunes, called "The Sounds of Geisha" (Paul may still be
involved in production work).
These
tunes are an eclectic mix of funk, techno, house, and trance, with solid
