Mailbox Folklore

This is a little section I set aside just for those wacky theories flying around Rachel that could easily grace the cover of the World Weekly News someday. A lot of this stuff remains realitively unknown to the general population, and unless you've spent some time listening to the regulars at the Little A'Le'Inn even those interested in Area 51 may not have heard of some of these theories.

With the Lazar story all but entirely debunked I felt it was necessary to promote some of the other lesser known tales floating around Area 51. Most of what you will find here is more than a little bit off-the-wall, and all of it should be taken with a grain of salt.

I can't say that any of this is true, but for me much of Area 51's charm lies in the folklore surrounding the base. So sit back, relax, and don't take any of this too seriously.

Archibald: It is believed by Pat and Joe Travis (owners of the A'Le'Inn) that a benevolent extraterrestrail entity watches over and protects the Inn. Pat and Joe had their first encounter with Archibald when they were driving down the 375 late one night. Pat heard a strange, unexplianable voice in her head telling her to slow the car down. Pat instructed Joe to slow the car and sure enough, standing there in the middle of the road was a cow. Had they not slowed down it certainly would have been an unpleasant encounter.

Sometime later Pat and Joe were sitting in the Inn after hours when a blue beam of light shot through the door. In true Rachel style, Joe offered this strange anomaly a beer. Could this light have been created by Archibald? Could it have been Archibald himself?

Alien Spirits at the Mailbox: This theory stems entirely from a photo on display at the Inn. The photo was taken by Mailbox photographer Kathleen Ford. As the story was told to me she was at the Mailbox one night when she got "the Hee-Bee Gee-bee's" and snapped a picture. Upon development the photo showed something startling. In the photo there was a dog (which WAS there when she had taken the picture) but crouching down in front of the canine was what appeared to be a translucent Grey alien! Could it be that the aliens travel these vast distances because they're dog-lovers?

A surveilance device on Badger Mountain: A couple of self-proclaimed Area 51 experts in Rachel (I won't name any names) are convinced that the Government has installed a camera on Badger Mountain to monitor the trail to Tikaboo Peak. The mystery device is alledgedly located next to some sort of radar relay. This is my kind of Mystery! One I could investigate hands on! So I packed up my bags and drove all the way out to middle-of-nowhere nevada to see it for myself. Unfourtunatly I had the misfourtune of debuking this theory myself. I didn't make it all the way to the device but I got close enough to it to get a good look at it through my telescope. Unfortunatly I found it wasn't a camera. In all likelyhood its just a second relay. I haven't had the heart to tell the folks in Rachel yet.

A possible new test site for the UFO's: I have heard of at least two seperate instances where strange lights were spotted flying above the Test Site 20 miles north of Rachel. These lights fit the description of the lights that used to be seen cruising around Dreamland airspace. They would hover, speed across the sky the stop on a dime. A single light would seperate into three disinct lights, then come back together.

Some time ago an anonmous tipster instructed researchers to "look north". Immediately Montana and other northern states popped into the minds of the researchers. Could this tipster simply have meant to look only 40 or so miles north?

Unfountunatly this airspace is also used in various simulated air combat exercises. And we all known how easy it is for some to mistake these combat exercises for UFO's.

The Nellis UFO: This strange object was caught on film by remote controlled cameras at a section of the Test Site known as Area S30. Judging from the mountains in the back groud it appears that the object could have been in the vicinity of Black Mountian, Quartz Mountain, or the Tolicha Peak Combat range. When I took a look at my maps it seemed that there was a chance that the UFO could have been heading towards Area 19.

Area 19, for those of you who don't know, is a bit of a mystery itself. You see, officially there is nothing out there. But the maps tells a different story. There is a powerline that crosses much of the test site, and teminates at a strange double ring of roads right in the middle of Area 19. It has been speculated by remote viewers that there is an underground facility there that houses a make-shift remote controlled UFO that has been pieced together from various crashes.

Could the Nellis UFO been this remote controlled unit coming back from a test flight?
