Comments:

In 1974 after an abandoned C.S.N&Y. second album, Neil Young formed a new version of Crazy Horse without Danny Whitten, who had died in 1972.

The characteristic somewhat heavy Crazy Horse sound is intact and overall "Zuma" comes out as a solid rock album. It opens strongly with the catchy "Cry No Tears" which sounds like a potential hit. It is the slightly heavy and raw tracks that dominate the album, with "Cortez the Killer" as the best known.

However, there are also some lighter tracks like the acoustic country-like "Pardon My Heart" and the catchy "Looking for a Love" - both of my favorites. The album concludes with "Through My Sails", where David Crosby, Steven Stills and Graham Nash join the choir - also a fine cut. A fine album, but for me not up with the very best.
