I've always felt that U2 were rather overrated and this album certainly fails to change that prejudice. After listening through the album three times, I can state that I think the album suffers from a lack of good songs and that there is more packaging than content.
It must be said in fairness that there are 2-3 good tracks. "The First Time" is really nice with nice guitar; a subdued and melodic number. There are good elements in the strange and complex "Lemon" with e.g. Bee Gees style vocals; The track will be quite long with the next seven minutes. "Stay" is an atmospheric number with distorted guitars.
"Baby Face" has a good beat and quite a nice melodic verse; unfortunately, the boring repetitive chorus quickly becomes too tedious.
