Comments:

This second 1966 album from the Easybeats was the third and last the group recorded before going to Europe to have their big breakthrough with "Friday on My Mind". In fact, "Friday on My Mind" was already released when "Volume 3" was sent out in November 1966. As on its predecessor "It's 2 Easy", it is a nice mix of R&B and Mersybeat inspired music, with vocal harmonies ala The Beatles and guitars that sound like The Kinks; all new original material written by Wright / Young and one written by Snowy Fleet.

"Sorry", which is perhaps not a particularly original r & b number, was the only single taken from the album. Fortunately, there are other far stronger tracks on the album; eg. The B-side "" Funny Feeling ", which has a great guitar riff. "You Said That" is a melodic rocker with Beatles harmony vocals. "Say You Want Me" is sweet merseybeat ballad. "Dance of the Lovers" is an experimental song, with i.a. organ. "Can't You Leave Here", is a melodic countryish song. For some songs you might get the suspicion that they are leftovers from "It's 2 Easy" and the overall impression of "Volume 3" is not quite as strong as its predecessor. The bonus tracks are all quite nice without being flashy; most interesting is "I'm Just Trying", which is a 1968 number recorded in Europe. The alternative versions of "Do You Have a Soul" and "Saturday Night" are also fine.
