Comments:

This second album is, like its predecessor, produced by Mitchel Froom, whose productions often have a light and airy sound - sometimes with a penchant for a slightly industrial sound. Froome's approach to the music fits perfectly with Neil Finn's melodies and Crowded House's music. With melodic-based songs, as Finn’s often are, there is a risk of too much neatness, and thus boredom. This problem has not affected the "Temple of Low Men", for which Froom probably has some credit.

No less than six songs from the album were out on singles and among these, the catchy folk / country song "Better Be Home Soon" was the most successful. Other favorites are the McCartney-like ballad "Into Temptation" and "I Feel Possesed", which is a catchy mid-tempo song with a great chorus. There is a general fine homogeneity in the album on which the groups only in glimpses move away from the melodic folk-pop. A little Beatles pscychedelia on "Kill Eye" and a little Simple Minds sound on "When You Come" could be examples.
