Comments:

With a few exceptions, "Mojo" is mostly a solid collection of blues numbers. Tom Petty comes around a lot of different sides of the blues genre, and you may find sources of inspiration from names such as John Mayall, Canned Heat, Almann Brothers, J.J. Cale, Led Zeppelin, Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, The Yardbirds and other similar classic blues-rock artists.

The whole thing is quite solid, though perhaps not very original. In fact, I feel Petty is best on the few songs where the blues inspiration is not very obvious. "Something Good Coming" is a fine melodic classic Tom Petty song that could have been included on any of Petty's later albums. On "The Trip to Pirate's Cove" you may find kinship with Dire Straits; again a nice melodic song.

Other favorites include the pop-rock ballad "No Reason to Cry" and the mid-tempo blues rocker "High in the Morning" - classic Heartbreakers sound.
