Comments:

I believe this fifth U2 album must be regarded as one of their very best. For me, personally, at least it is one of the few albums from the group, where I don't feel losing a bit of interest along the way. On the early albums, I often feel there is a lack of really good songs for an entire album and on the later albums, it's almost as ideas are beginning to be lacking. This is not at all the case on "The Joshua Tree", which contains several concert favorites and five great singles, all of which did really well on the charts. Both "With or Without You" and "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" went all the way to the top.

The album also has a great and beautiful sound created by producers Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois. In terms of lyrics, Bono really does have a heart to it, and as a whole it's probably the US's most melodic album. A Classic.
