Comments:

This 1972 album from Francoise Hardy, which probably never really was given a title, can be found referred to as both "L'ECLAIRAGE" or "A si je m'em vais avant toi". It was the sequel to the somewhat atypical album "Le Question" where Hardy's own charming songwriting was only highlighted in glimpses. "Le Question" was quite far from her well-known melodic style of which she especially in the 1960s was an exponent.

On this album, she has even written the majority of the tunes, and even though some tracks perhaps come out a bit too much as anonymous pop-blues songs, there are also some great songs, on which her personal sensitive singing comes into fokus.

"Le Soir" is almost like a nostalgic look at her Vogue time, and the ballads "Bruit de fond" and "A si je m'em vais avant toi" are really good.

Two of the best songs were written in collaboration; one is the different "Cafard" written with her husband Jacques Dutronc and the other the gorgeous "Bowm Bowm Bowm" written by Tommy Brown and Micky Jones with French lyrics by Hardy – perhaps the highlight of the album.
